EDIT: I emailed the restaurant based on their response to this review and has since resolved the matter. Harley was a big help in communicating with me and shared some positive thoughts for the 2025 season.
My mom sent an email to the address they have listed on their website. Strangely enough, it bounced back. This is what she wrote:
I am writing to you today because I want to provide feedback regarding our dining experience on Monday night.
We initially got there at around 650pm and was told it would be a 45 mins wait. We put our name in and went for a walk down the pier. I was happy because it was my birthday and my family was with me. After about 30 mins, we went back to check on the table. The hostess sat us at this point.
This is where the dining experience gets tricky. We waited approximately 10 mins before someone came to see us, Giselle was her name. We sat outside on the upper deck of the patio. We ordered drinks and an appy. She didn’t write anything down. We all ordered water as well as other drinks. The drinks came but the waters didn’t.
After approximately 25 mins, the appetizer arrived, we still hadn’t ordered our mains. But we also hadn’t seen our server since she took the appy order. We sat for many minutes with the dirty appetizer plates and then she finally appeared to ask if she had taken our dinner order. We of course said no. She took the order. I wanted beef dip … no such luck. 86’ed. Then I ordered the pickerel… also dead … none available. I settled on chicken Alfredo. Again, she didn’t write anything down. I didn’t have a good feeling. My daughter asked for waters AGAIN.
More than 30 mins go by, and she comes back to say there’s no chicken parm for my husband and son in law, they also settle on chicken Alfredo. Another 20 mins go by and STILL NO WATERS. No communication. And no apologies. I felt like a second class citizen. It’s insulting that all this time has gone by and not a PEEP from the server.
Our food finally comes out and not one speck of it is HOT. We were starving at this point and it was going on 9pm. My daughter’s burger did not have cheese on it and the fries were cold. But guess what? WE STILL DONT HAVE WATERS… drink refills weren’t even offered. Service was abysmal at best.
Ive lived in Parry Sound for quite a few years and I’ve never experienced service like this. We got the bill… which lo and behold had all the items on it with no discount, she knew we were upset and still no apology. I don’t know what gets me more… the fact that no apology was given or the fact that nothing was discounted for our TWO HOUR pasta dinner. Another thing I want to point out to you is that a party of 8 sat after us…. AFTER we ate our appy and for some reason they got their dinners before us. It seems strange that a party double our size can eat their mains before us when we ordered at the same time. Does your server not care about making money for herself or the restaurant? This is rhetorical because with this dining experience, I would think that she doesn’t want to make money.
My daughter called the next day. She was told by the hostess she wasn’t allowed to give the phone to the manager for whatever reason. She explained it was to discuss the horrendous service we experienced the night before. The hostess put her on hold and then was told the manager was in a meeting. That is insulting. When my daughter told me this, I felt it was a lie.
I will be copying my daughter on this email as she was there with us and had the same dining experience.
I hope to hear to from you regarding this matter and I want to give you the opportunity to...
Read moreWas recommended Flight Deck Grill by our hotel as we were visiting the area. Even though the menu seemed very small in selection and there was no guarantee of fresh fish, which would shrink the menu even smaller, we decided to give it a go anyways. There was a couple ahead of us and even though it was dinner time, it wasn't overly busy. From the door I could visually see at least 10 empty tables inside and on the patio. I thought it would be a quick seating. Sadly I was very, very wrong. During our wait, there was another couple that arrived and shortly after us and then a party of 5. After waiting at least 20 minutes, the hostess finally came to greet us but instead bypassed everyone else and greeted the party of 5, who didn't have a reservation. The hostess was a younger girl and very polite. Poor thing looked frazzled and genuinely stressed. After observing while waiting, it became clear that she didn't have the support of her team, or manager. The bartender stayed behind a very empty bar and had his pop. We were looking to sit on the patio and given that the couple ahead of us also wanted to sit on the patio, we asked if we could sit at the 2, 2 seater tables out on the patio. The hostess told us that we would have to wait while she bussed tables and that we couldn't be served. After conversing with the couple ahead of us, we found out that they had been waiting 15 minutes prior to our arrival and this was the first time they had been acknowledged!! Now that's patience! While talking with hubby about heading somewhere else or if we should just keep waiting it out, a waitress overheard and told us we could go elsewhere if we didn't want to wait. We were a little taken aback by the comment and I said that we had been waiting a very long time and pointed out the many empty tables both inside and out. We were then told how extremely busy they are and that we would just have to wait. Given her tone, we left. While heading to our vehicle and deciding where else to go, we bumped into another couple who we didn't know had also been waiting ahead of us, also left and were upset by the tone of the waitress. Then, the couple that was ahead of us, had also left due to the behaviour of the waitress. While conversing, we also saw the couple behind us leaving. So, we all looked across the street to the Bay Street Cafe. I honestly thought it was just a café but it isn't. Their menu was grand and glorious with a wonderful selection. Hubby and I enjoyed the prompt seating, fantastic service and delicious food! Thank you Bay...
Read moreSo we have been coming up to Perry Sound for a few years because our cottage is about an hour away. The lakefront is always beautiful to visit and we always saw a line out the door for this restaurant all the time. This year we got lucky and there was no line. Everyone told us this is a great place to eat if we can get in. When we got there the place looked nice but it was just simple construction nothing fancy but nothing ugly either. The menu as you can see by others pictures is very simple. it's like they don't have a real chef creating a menu It's all just simple prepared meals that they can throw together quick. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner got the pulled brisket. There were like 40 people there most already had their food but it took about 35 minutes for our meal to come. My fish were very small but I got two. the coleslaw was less than a mouthful in the same small plastic take out sauce container it tasted like vinegar and water on 5 cents of cabbage. It's all the beginning of the day prepped and thrown in the fridge stuff I know but could have been put in a presentable container for table service. The fish was good but was not fresh it was frozen but still good with a light batter that melted in your mouth. I also got some tartar sauce in that same plastic to-go sauce container. The fries were just typical fries. For $22 you would expect more and all the reviews saying this place is so amazing. it was meh at best for the price and not really worth all the hype. again look at the menu for yourself, it's mostly frozen pub food and stuff that can be prepared in the morning. Nothing seems fresh. lots of other restaurants to choose from in the area that have real chefs making real menus with fresh ingredients and not just deep fried everything. Also my partner ordered two things and both were out of stock and heard the server speaking to another table after our order that two more things were out of stock so 4 menu items were gone out of like 16 items to choose from. We won't be going back. it looks nice from the outside but that's about it unless you like pub food at restaurant pricing. $61 for 2 meals and 2 soft drinks...
Look at the other reviews on here. The owner is absent from their own reviews. There seems to be no care about this restaurant. It is easy to tell when an owner does not care about their business by looking at the other reviews and by looking...
