We had plans to go to the Indian Restaurant in the Royal York and Bloor area. However, plans changed because the restaurant was closed that day due to a family emergency. Ended up at the Bukhara Grill Indian restaurant instead. What a huge mistake!! The chair that I was sitting in ruined an expensive pair of pants. The Velcro at the edge of the chair pulled both pant legs (approximately 4-5 inch sections on both legs). I brought it to the attention of the waiter right away and told him to tell management that I would like to speak to them about what happened. Right away I picked up on the vibe that they were not pleased and I kept getting stares by the staff. Very uncomfortable. I didn’t want it to ruin my dinner so I tried to ignore it. The owner started to inspect the chairs right in front of me, and speaking in his language, and kept glancing at me, making it even more uncomfortable for us. The staff kept staring, and talking about us. Very inappropriate and uncalled for. From the start, when I went to speak with the owner, it was obvious that he blamed me for the incident. He stated that I was wearing a ‘sensitive’ pair of pants. His wife stated that it was not their fault that my pants were ruined. The owner stated that I should take out insurance on my pants if they were so pricey. I never received an apology. According to them it was all my fault and they were not going to take responsibility for it. Upon receiving the bill, the owner came to the table and told me to write my name and number on a piece of paper and the ‘owner’ would contact me regarding the incident. He wouldn’t be able to do anything about it at this time. He wanted us to pay the entire bill. They were not wiling to comp anything or even discuss the incident. After going back and forth a few times, he stated that he shouldn’t have to pay any part of our bill, because he didn’t eat the food! What great customer service. He just kept glaring at me and expected us to pay our bill. We were stunned at the treatment we received. We just got up and left. It was absolutely disgusting the way they handled the situation. They should be ashamed of themselves. This may be the way they dealt with things back in their own country but it is most definitely not a way for us to be treated in this country… Absolutely disgusting that an establishment would not take any responsibility for something that happened on their premises. Stay away. Save your money and...
Read moreWe were in the area and this place had been on our list for a while so we thought of giving it a try, and ended up having a good meal at Bukhara grill on a summer Sunday afternoon. The place was not busy, so we got a nice table with white tablecloths and good cutlery. The restaurant was well air-conditioned and had light instrumental music playing in the background. I recognized some of KK's songs and felt nostalgic.
The service was excellent, even though there was only one server. He was friendly and quick, and gave us good recommendations. We ordered the summerlicious menus, which had a lot of variety and value.
The food was delicious and satisfying. We started with aloo tikki and chicken pakora, which were simple and crunchy respectively. The main courses were madras lamb and paneer makhani, both of which had great gravy and flavor. The lamb was well cooked and tender, and the paneer was slightly sweet but very palatable. The naan was soft and nice to eat with the curries.
For dessert, we had rasamalai and mango ice cream. The rasamalai was yum, and the mango ice cream was more like kulfi and worth trying. It was a perfect way to end our meal.
We loved the experience and will definitely come again. The only minor drawback was that the place is in a basement, so the entry seemed slightly confusing and there was no natural lighting. But once we got inside, it was relaxing and cozy. The walls had pretty photos and a nice decor that added to the ambiance.
Bukhara grill is a good place in Bloor West that serves authentic and tasty Indian food. I recommend for a pleasant...
Read morei don't write reviews for any restaurants but had to make an account just to share my experience. My very close friend Tarun Gill has always been talking highly of bakura grill. A couple of us friends were having a bet and the loser has to buy dinner. Long story short my friend Tarun lost and only agreed to buy dinner if it was at Bukhara Grill.
So we came in one night. The staff greeted us with a smile. Very welcoming. Made us feel at home if u will. The lovely gentleman took us to our table. Tarun suggested we try the famous butter chicken. So we had that, some Palak paneer, few naans, and rice.
When i took a bite of the butter chicken, i was speechless. We all were. My friend Tarun had a big smile on his face because he knew how delicious it was. This has to be the best butter chicken in Toronto, period. No other Indian restaurant can match Bukara grill.
The Palak paneer was tasty, naan was tasty, rice was tasty, but the butter chicken was on another level. This is the only Indian restaurant i see myself going to. i mean let's look at the facts. Look at the reviews and ratings for this restaurant. It's off the charts.
The chef must of worked along side Gordon Ramsay because he has magic in his hands. if you are looking for a Indian restaurant that makes great food, has great staff then bakura grill is...
