This is a quick meal restaurant where they offer bowls, wraps and various sides. I had gone during dinner time on a Tuesday and dined in, was not busy but had constant traffic.
The protein included: tandori/chilli chicken, chick pea masala, paneer spinach, Bombay fish, butter chicken, butter paneer, chicken curry and Cali flower.
Mixins: dream bean salad, basmati rice, spicy potato's, and quinoa ($2.50 extra)
Toppings varies but includes corn, coleslaw, pickle, tomato, lettuce, banana peppers and a variety of others. To top everything off you can use from a various sauces, I chose cilantro chutney and spicy sauce.
I chose the butter chicken bowl with basmati and spicy potato's. Added fish pakora (8 pieces for $9) and it was yummy. It was a lot of food for me so I took it home but finished my lassi! It was a beautiful and simple space, I really liked it--as well as the concept. Hopefully one day we can see them maybe offer raita?
Definitely great choices. I spoke to owners and they explained this was a Montreal based location--I believe there are 7 of them and it focus on offering Indian food with a modern twist!
Although a quick food joint the seating area is comfortable. At the front coming in, alongside the main wall is white tile and at the entrance you see the Spice Bro logo! Opposite of that where I had sat by the window adjourned a beautifully custom Toronto-Indian influence mural that was quite beautiful (drawn/painted by Raffi Elli). Towards the back is a patio like interior adorned with wooden panels and fake bush like greens where you can sit. At the very back is a cute hand washing station (where you can wash the reusable straw!) with 'Naanmaste,--too cute!
The location was located close to Islington subway station. If you are driving, only street parking which you need to find. Otherwise the walk to and from the station was...
Read moreTried this place for the first time and I’m hooked! The staff was super friendly and patiently explained all the different options. I ordered the butter chicken bowl with potatoes and grilled vegetables. They had some waffle carrots as their grilled veggies and their potatoes were like nice cubes! I think they could have included bigger chicken pieces but the butter chicken was nice. They also allowed unlimited toppings which included: tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, lettuce, bean salad, corn, hot peppers, etc and a choice of two dressings! I realllllly liked the west coast coriander dressing and the one chili pepper spicy dressing. The coriander dressing was so creamy a bit limey and so delicious!
In terms of apps they had a variety of choices. I got a samosa and I loveeed it because the nicely spiced potato and pea filling inside was my favorite! Add on the chutney and this thing is Divine!! They also offered mini samosas (if you like more crunchy), fish pakoras and more.
Their mango lassi was also delicious! Not too heavy or thick and I like how they use only fresh mangos and not just mango pulp to make their mango lassi!! Must try!
Their garlic naan is also delicious! Spicebros has a unique machine that makes fresh naan for their customers right away! Definitely pick up one of those as well!
Overall great place for quick Indian take out and friendly staff. I’m excited they expanded to ontario from Quebec and will be...
