We take lunch combos from Sushi-Ya or Makimono Sushi Etobicoke on regular basis, and wanted to try out Sushi 2 Go Dundas. Customer service is same not superb, but ok as at the other sushi places. Choices are not good - we wanted different rolls, but they had only 4 to offer, and were not flexible or friendly at all. The other places do allow significantly wider varieties or even substitutions of rolls in their combo lunches even without asking. Soya sauce was only 1 small packet per each roll. Other places provide soya sauce in little round containers with lids, so we can dip the sushi properly. Cucumber roll was not tasty, almost flavorless. There was too much crunch in shrimp tempura roll, was also not to our flavor preferences. On menu, it was not specified that the tempura roll is shrimp, we thought it will be a yam tempura, asked that when ordered about two times, which was ignored.
Phone line was busy, it took a few calls to place the order. No delivery option available. When we came in, it was hard to figure out which counter inside we go to pick up the order, with no people in view to help. At the pick up, the server went to an adjoining room, was on the phone, it was hard to figure out if we are good to go (at "sushi to go" LOL). We just took the receipt from Interac terminal, waived it to the person who nodded back, and left. We will not use this place again.
To be fair, the good things were following. Maki rolls were still warm when picked up, just like we love it. Order was ready...
Read moreTakeout at Sushi 2 Go The Maki/Bulgogi combo was good. The taste of the bulgogi was great. It brings maki, salad, rice, a medium container of bulgogi, and soup. I would recommend this combo. ($21.50)
I was not impressed with the shrimp tempura appetizer ($10.50) or the sashimi appetizer ($13.50). Portions were small, the shrimp tempura did not taste fresh at all and it was too expensive.
As for the agedashi tofu, it was soggy by the time I got home. Taste was okay but I would not recommend this for takeout.
Customer service is friendly and courteous. The restaurant looks clean. They have dine in options at the moment. I went with take out and I liked how they packed the food. It was well organized. Not sure if I would go there again. It's too expensive. I ordered two maki/bulgogi combos along with 3 appetizers - The total was $82.43 ( %15 tips...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer to this place for years.. whether that be in person or ordering on ubereats . I recently placed an order for pickup (no serving or delivery required) my bill was $117 ( during covid pandemic when most businesses have been forced to closed and people are out of jobs) when given the option to tip.. I tipped $5.. I did this because nothing was required by them aside from preparing my order. But still felt I should tip..not the regular minimum 15% because they did not need to serve or deliver. After tipping.. the woman put my receipt on the back counter beside another employee and pointed to the tip and I watched as the other employee shook her head in disgust. I couldnt believe how unprofessional that was.. and the level of ungratefulness after just spending nearly 120 at their restaurant. I won't go back there again for...
