I will start with the things that impressed me:
Service: The lovely woman who greeted me and took my order was perfect. Friendly, chatty and accommodating of my last minute addition to my order.
Restaurant: Appeared clean, organized and very bright. I loved the macrame decorations.
Now for the food.
I ordered the 6oz "steak" with corn and sliced tomatoes. I was disappointed that salad did not come as an option for a side, but that's not really the point losing issues.
Before tip, the meal and drink came to $30. I wasn't expecting The Keg, but I also wasn't expecting what I got.
The 6oz of steak was at least 3oz of gristle and fat, honestly looked like a piece I would have personally cut away from a larger cut of meat and preparedfor my doggos; honestlynot trying to be rude - we give ends to the dogs for real.
Also, it was seasoned with Indian spices. (Not that I mind Indian spices, but not on my steak...) the mushrooms seemed to also be prepared with the same spices. Again, not a dig at Indian spices. I just feel like if you're serving Canadian and Indian food, you should ask whether the person wants traditional seasoning for their steak and mushrooms or if they'd like the Indian spices. Medium rare was more rare than medium but I don't mind that once in a while. I'd prefer that to more well done any day so no lost points there.
I didn't realize the meal came with garlic toast - which would have been tasty if it hadnt been half toasted (more bread than toast) and then packaged with the steak where it soaked up the liquids from the resting meat.
The tomatoes were fresh, however, 2 of the slices had the core of the stem attached. Not a huge deal but also for the sake of serving edible food, you may want to use these parts for other things like salads/sauces.
I really hate that the food was this disappointing because my hopes were high after looking through their Facebook page.
I would suggest either hiring someone to take pics of what you serve or taking your phones and snapping some as they're prepared. Using stock photos for food is bordering on false advertising when the food you're serving is nowhere near the quality you're portraying online.
I would be willing to try this place again on another trip to Nanton since I know now that you use these spices in more than just your Indian food.
Again service was great! Waited less than 15minutes and enjoyed the...
Read moreAn unexpected delight!! While passing through Nanton on a family roadtrip, my wife, son, and I conceded that our hunger outweighed our desire to carry on to Calgary, so we sought out a local restaurant. What a wise decision that turned out to be! We do our best to avoid stopping at chain restaurants, as we want to support local enterprises, so when we saw The Bridge Eatery and Bar, we opted to give it a try. As a roadside diner in a small town, we hoped for simple, quality food, along with friendly service, but the Bridge far exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere and decor were pleasant enough, and fit well with our idea of a small diner, but the menu was our first clue that this lunch was going to be great. We expected the classic diner options such as all-day breakfast, soup, sandwiches, and burgers, but the selection of authentic Indian cuisine told us this was not a typical rural Alberta diner. My wife and I ordered some veggie samosas, Butter Chicken, and the Chicken Kadhai, and they were outstanding. I was very impressed by the freshness of the ingredients - everything had obviously been prepared that day - and the complex flavours of the dishes. The service was also excellent and it was clear that the young husband and wife team who own and operate the diner are genuinely concerned with creating a rich experience for their customers. Of all the places we ate during our ten-day trip through Alberta and BC, the Bridge Eatery and Bar was our favourite. Now that we know it's there, we will definitely stop by on...
Read moreHave to say one of the worst experiences at a restaurant in all aspects we have ever had. After waiting what seemed like forever to get our food despite being 2 out 4 people in there, we where met with quite an underwhelming breakfast the bacon and eggs looked like they where microwaved and the BLT seemed like they went to the gas station next door and brought it over to serve and the only way to describe the fries is potato slivers served with the oil they where cooked in. That was just the start we had went to use the ketchup and where met with a massive explosion the bottle upon opening it went all over all the food both of us the window the fake plant everything. I would say that was a freak accident but moments after the table across from us had the same experience. This would be the time to mention that it was not a major brand of ketchup but some no name brand I can only assume they got a deal on and not pass the savings on to the customer, witch comes to my next point. After cleaning ourselves off and some portions of the table and only replacing the fries with and even worse batch of fries despite having that ketchup on all the food we where met with the bill, that was fine we still ate a portion of the food what we could get down, that being said we where still willing to pay a portion of the bill we did in fact get a discount of 5$ bringing the bill down to 50$ our shirts alone one being permanently stained where more than 50$. Do not waist your time money or stomach on this fly by night place masquerading as...
