This review is for the MeeT in Blanshard, Victoria! There's a listing on Google Maps but no option to leave a review!
After a few trips to Vancouver, it was during a recent trip to Victoria that we finally had the chance to visit MeeT!! They have four locations in total, three in the Vancouver area and the one in Victoria. Their menu is so eclectic, my omnivore family (vegan friendly) agreed to meet (haha. no pun intended but sometimes these things just write themselves) there for not just one but, two meals (dinner and returning for brunch the next day). Their Victoria location is not far from the downtown area but probably far enough that you'll want to drive instead of walk. They're happy to accommodate as they have a nice sized parking lot. I'll use this post to showcase the Brunch options that we enjoyed, and plan a separate post to showcase the dinner options.
The restaurant is gorgeous, just so gorgeous, I love the playful deep red over tones dispersed throughout. From the moment you enter the restaurant, with just the ambiance and decor alone, your dining experience is elevated. But don't worry, it doesn't stop there, it just continues to get better. Between all of us, we ordered the Protein Power! Skillet, the Lobster Benny (not meant to be a version of faux lobster, just to avoid any confusion), a side of Sunny Side Up Yo! Egg, and an order of Pistachio Créme French Toast.
The French Toast dish was super rich and decadent and so unique with the Pistachio Créme. The Benny and Power Skillet, respectively with various combinations of some or all of the following .. Poached Yo! Egg, Cabbage, Arugula, Black Beans, Tempeh, both including Potatoes with a creamy hollandaise sauce and so much more, each dish having a great depth of flavor, texture and ingredients, leaving you craving for each next bite. With the Lobster Benny, you can really make that "one more bite" magic happen .. if you so desire, by ordering a double size instead of a single.
Finally, there's the side of Yo! Egg Sunny Side Up. This really goes a long way towards capturing the spirit and essence of the namesake. What a playful treat to break into the "yolk", all the while knowing you're not contributing to pain, suffering and a thoughtless inconsiderate industry by consuming an actual egg .. and after all, is that not what this is all about?! One * warning * and word to the wise, and you'd be wise to heed my warning here lol. If you decide to order the side of Sunny Side Up, you'd do best to approach this dish with the utmost of caution by breaking the yolk tenderly and thoughtfully, which I say because this is the vegan yolk that will fight you back and .. cover a good distance (in launch and upon landing) in doing so lol. If you don't believe me, look at the remnants of the vicious attack that was launched at my smiley face shirt. I assure you, the shirt was clean and not stained pre-yolk attack lmao. In fact, the attack was so focused and on point, rumor has it .. it caused my lovely smiley face to melt as a consequence. 🙂 😛
Thanks as always for dropping by, reading my ridiculousness and hopefully enjoying my pictures. If you have the chance to visit MeeT, whether in Vancouver or Victoria, you won't be disappointed, you might be overwhelmed with options ( a good problem ), but not...
Read moreWe recently visited Meet in Gastown to try out the menu and had mixed feelings about the experience. While we appreciated the creativity and the fresh ingredients, overall, the food felt a bit too “dippy” or mushy for our taste — more like sides and appetizers than full meals.
We enjoyed the wraps, which reminded us of Vietnamese-style dishes, but they could use a bit more substance. Even one box of seaweed wasn’t enough for the kids — one child finished it entirely on their own — so maybe an extra portion of nori, more lettuce, or additional fillings like pickled daikon, carrots, or onions would go a long way. Fermented veggies would also be a great addition.
Some of the sauces, particularly the soy-based one, were extremely salty, which overwhelmed the dish. The beans and rice were okay, but again — the other side items were overly salty and lacked balance. A peanut or almond sauce option could help round things out and offer more variety in flavor and texture.
From the kids’ perspective, the meal didn’t really hit the mark. They gravitated toward the rice and noodles but didn’t feel like anything was truly filling or satisfying. That’s understandable given the restaurant’s health-conscious and plant-based approach, but there’s still room for hearty, wholesome options like veggie burgers, chickpea pasta, or something more substantial and kid-friendly. We went to pop up and not regular menu
We felt the meal leaned too far into ultra-clean eating — which is great for some — but left us wanting more satiety and variety, even as a health-conscious family. As someone who’s pre-diabetic, I value healthy food, but I also know that healthy can still mean satisfying and comforting.
For context, if the meal was around $200 for our group 2 adult 3 children, it felt a bit steep for what we got. When we asked the kids afterward if they’d want to return, all three said no — and that speaks volumes. It didn’t quite feel like a family-friendly restaurant unless the entire family is really dialed into a very specific health lifestyle.
That said, we did enjoy parts of the experience, especially the wraps — they just need a bit more volume and balance. A few simple tweaks — less salt, more fresh toppings, extra seaweed or lettuce — could really make a difference. Thanks for the experience and the chance to try...
Read moreCame here as an accident, When it comes to food I am a MEAT eater. The dishes I had (Portbello Burger and Mac n Cheese Burger) were not bad. If you order here be wary as their single dish is enough to feed two. Come here and leave your meat pants at the door or you'll feel unsatisfied, everything tasted like a nice slab of meat would have perfected it. You take that away, and then you realize, hey? These are pretty good! While I can say the food was very delicious, trendy and everything looked good; the items on the menu lacked heaviness which is made up with portions. I feel like it would have helped we got some rice instead of so much french fries, the salad...french fries and then salad burger is just too much. Some garlic bread or a poutine would help bring some weight to their dishes. Maybe burger, salad, rice/poutine would have been way better than just french fries. They allow you to sub with either a main salad or main french fries but it's just too much food to compensate for being full or not which is why I recommend splitting it.
Also oddly enough, I'm 75% sure because of how healthy the food is, you will be going to the washroom, our bodies are not used to what the chefs bring to the table good! Just be ready to use the washroom after your meal as it was packed the whole time we were there. Speaking of washrooms, it's inclusive too, no male/female, very modern and progressive. I'm neutral with those kinds of things but I always believed washrooms should just be unisex if both the male/female just has one stand or if one genders washrooms is just full all the time.
Last thoughts, give it a try as a vegan/vegetarian. You come in as a meat eater and depending on what you get, you will miss the meat part. Don't come here craving meat because this place will treat you right with...
