I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mama Fatma Turkish Restaurant in Toronto , and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, with tasteful Turkish decor that transported me to the heart of Istanbul. From traditional mezes to mouthwatering kebabs, every dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail. The ingredients used were fresh, and the flavors were perfectly balanced, creating a symphony of taste in each bite. One of my favorite dishes was the Adana kebab, which was grilled to perfection and bursting with aromatic spices. The hummus and babaganoush were silky smooth, and the warm pita bread was the ideal accompaniment. I also tried their baklava for dessert, and it was heavenly—crispy layers of pastry filled with sweet, nutty goodness. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant satisfied and content. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served. The restaurant also offers vegetarian and vegan options, catering to a variety of dietary preferences. I must mention that the service was impeccable. If it's your first time visiting this place or trying Turkish cuisine overall, you can't go wrong with the Mix Kebab Combo for Two option. It's like a sampler plate that includes a variety of their signature dishes, allowing you to sample a little bit of everything. Personally, I found the portion to be generous enough for 3-4 people, unless you have very good appetites or are prepared to take home leftovers. Their kebabs are bursting with flavor. They grill them with lamb oil or lamb fat to enhance the taste. The beef doner and chicken were tender, juicy, and well-marinated, while the lamb chops were perfectly cooked. The mini pides looked cute. As for drinks, I tried the Doğanay Şalgam. This salty turnip juice has a unique flavor profile; it was quite an interesting experience for me as I had never tried salty juices before. In fact, it's the kind of taste you might find yourself becoming obsessed with. Although the restaurant is located in an ordinary plaza, the interior is spacious and decorated in authentic Turkish style. The staff were friendly and patient, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. If you are seeking an authentic taste of Turkey I'd recommend this restaurant. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 4/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - 4/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 4/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 4.5/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 4/5 OVERALL - 4.1

I’m a bit in the middle with Mama Fatma. Here are the positives: The patio is wonderful. So beautiful and wonderful to sit in with your family or partner or friends. If you go around 5pm, you get to enjoy golden hour, and the weather wouldn’t be too hot or too cold. At night the lighting is calm, and reminds me a lot of those times I visited Turkish patios in Turkey. The mantisi was delicious. The hot oil they pour over the garlic yoghurt was flavourful and the hot cold combination compliment each other very well. The bread that arrived on our table before our food was delicious. Piping hot, soft inside and crunchy outside. So yummy. Some negatives: On our first time visit, we went during the week. When my sister and I found that the food and service was good we diced to bring the family on the following Saturday. We came on time for our reservation, we’re given a small table and told that they could not provide us wirh something bigger. So our family had to be separated, with a group sitting behind the other. However, other groups that were bigger than ours and arrived later than us were given a large sized table, or were sat in close vicinity so that it was not awkward for them to see each other. The groups that came after us and put in their orders later than us got their meals first. We sat for 30 minutes, with fussy children, and watched as the people around us were not only getting better service, but were receiving their food on time. It was a very strange experience. When we ordered the mantisi, it arrived over cooked and cold. The hot oil they usually pour over the yoghurt was cold as well. The flavours were not as delicious as the first time. I did not get to enjoy the staple item that all Turkish people are proud of. The Iskandar Kabab for some reason looked like sausage meat. It did not have the natural lining or strips of beef traditional Turkish Iskandar has. Between each layer there should be a thin line of fat to prevent the meat from drying. The red sauce was chalky and salty. The location was beautiful, but the food could have been better. Turkey is known for its high quality dishes, full of flavour and power. I did not experience that the last time I visited Mama Fatma. Neither did my family. However, I’ll assume it was because it was a weekend and a full house that the food and service was like that. I recommend you try Mama Fatma during the week the way my sister and I did.

Update: went back for a second time and a bit disappointed by the food and pricing. Seems prices have gone up and quality hasn't. Ordered the beyti kebab based on the raving reviews, and was disappointed. It was cold and didn't taste as good. Have had much better in Vaughan. The iskender kebab was still good. The mix appetizers of dips was quite disappointing as well, especially the baba ghanouj. Seating is congested. ------ Delicious food. Make sure to book a reservation, otherwise you may have to wait over an hour for a table. We ordered the meat platter for two for $80, that has a wide selection of their kebabs offerings. We enjoyed all of them. Their pita bread is amazing. Fresh cooked. We also really liked their complimentary Feta cheese with pita bread. Their homemade yogurt beverage was also very delicious. Servers were good, but dissapeared after food was brought to our table. No one checked up on us after that. Had to grab their attention to get the bill. Ambiance is decent. Restaurant gets very loud. Would recommend sitting away from the door. People lining up for tables keep staring at the food.

4.5/5 Mama Fatma’s in Vaughn is a true fine dining Turkish gem. The food is authentically Turkish and absolutely delicious. I was very impressed by the quality of service from the staff. Our waiter was attentive and knew when to come, our drinks were constantly refilled and we were given complimentary fresh bread baskets throughout our meal. The food was phenomenal and great quality and quantity. We got a bbq platter with 3 sides. A fresh and delicious Caesar salad, the mix appetizer platter, and mashed potatoes. We had previously came to this restaurant during Covid, now we came post Covid and the consistency of the food remains the same. The price is a bit on the higher side but it’s quality food you’re paying for. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice as well, and it has great timeless decor, however I do think it can be designed for more upscale dining as it feels more casual rather than fine dining. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try Turkish cuisine. They’re halal dining certified.

Mama Fatma Turkish Cuisine was filled with people this Saturday afternoon. We had a reservation and came as a party of over ten people (adults and children alike). From the freshly baked bread to the tender chicken and meats and the aromatic coffee, tea, and sweets, everything was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the soup of the day, manti dumplings, chicken and meat in its various forms, and rice pudding. The portion sizes are generous, and they offer takeout containers if you have any leftovers. The team of staff offered phenomenal service that was prompt, warm, and welcoming. They dealt with requests with grace, making it easier to deal with the children dropping silverware among others. One criticism would be that it was quite noisy inside the restaurant from the sheer volume of diners or perhaps from the sound design of the restaurant. If there is any way to reduce the sound level that would make the atmosphere 5/5 stars (from 4/5). Thanks again for the delicious lunch and wonderful service!
