A couple of friends and I went to White Rock from Maple Ridge for the free Colin James concert at East Beach in August. My friend the organizer said we'd go early and have dinner before the show. I was expecting drinks and a meal in a nice restaurant but by the time we hauled our gear and found a spot way down on the beach and started to look for food, every single restaurant on the street had a huge lineup on the sidewalk. We walked all the way back to the far end to find Finlay's, which was the only place with seating, and patio at that. Didn't seem like a good sign to me but maybe people just didn't want to walk that far. The menu was fairly limited, sandwiches, wraps, soup and salad, not what I was expecting but they were licensed so I ordered a glass of wine and a tuna sandwich on whole wheat. One of my friends had a shrimp wrap and the other a green salad. It was the best tuna sandwich I've ever eaten. The bread was cut thick and I was afraid it would be too much but it seemed homemade, very fresh and delicious. My friend said her shrimp was also fresh-tasting and enjoyable. The server came out to check whether our other friend ordered Greek or green salad and she got her food last. The salad was comprised of all green vegetables with a creamy dressing. She said it was good. So, despite all my reservations, I was...
Read moreMy friend and I have been stopping at Finlay's since 2017 when it was The Watts cafe. The ladies are always very nice and deliver our food as soon as it is prepared . We love the penninis. They are full of meat and very filling. We have to accept the fact that prices have gone up to cover the cost of the ingredients. They can't give the food away at cost. The cafe would be out of business in no time. I don't need fancy little bits of greens and red to dress up the plate. I have never heard any other customers complain like some of the ones written here. This is our favourite place because it gives us a reason to walk the full promenade west to east. Their muffins are delicious too so sometimes I buy one to go. We can relax and enjoy the scenery. My only suggestion is that the TV is very annoying so leave it off so that patrons can have a pleasant conversation without yelling at each...
Read moreI recently had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I ordered a Greek wrap, and the chicken had a foul odor. After eating just half of it, I felt nauseous and later experienced food poisoning. My family also ordered waffles, which were cold and turned out to be store-bought, even though the menu didn’t indicate this. It felt very deceptive to serve store-bought food as fresh.
Charging $15.79 for store-bought waffles is deceptive and misleading. While we received a refund for the waffles, I was refused a refund for the Greek wrap, despite the obvious issues with its quality. I reached out to the restaurant to resolve the matter, but they have not responded.
The combination of serving smelly chicken and store-bought food while ignoring customer concerns is extremely disappointing. I do not recommend dining here, and I hope they take steps to improve both their food quality and...
