Novoměstský pivovar — Restaurant in Prague

I had this brewery on my list of places to eat, we asked the lovely man who transferred us from the airport for restaurant recommendations, as we do not like to eat in "tourist" restaurants. As he reviewed our list, he assured us that the places we had written down were very good choices. As this place was quite close to our apartment we chose to eat here our first night in Prague. The first waiter who came to our table made a recommendation, we did not want to order what he had suggested. He seemed to be somewhat agitated by this. He then sent another waiter to our table. He was pleasant and took our order. After we were finished, the original waiter came and presented us the bill. As we looked over our bill, he stood over our table, and TOLD us that this bill was correct and that it did not include the 10% tip that we must leave. He then TOLD us in a very intimidating manner (with his arms crossed) the exact amount to leave. As well, there was a charge for 180 CZK on our bill - this was a "cover charge". As we were jet lagged and quite taken a back we put down the amount that he TOLD us we owed (which included the 10% tip). He then picked-up the money along with the bill. My husband immediately asked him for the bill. To which he took it put it in front of my husbands face and crumpled it up and said "you don't need this". Never in all of our travels have we ever experienced anything like this. I would NEVER return to this establishment again. When we spoke to the people who we rented the apartment from they were appalled to hear of our experience. Clearly, they will not be recommending this place ever...

Took the beer tasting set. Light beer was okay, dark tasted like traditional Finnish/Russian table beer, Mix beer (name of their beer) tasted exactly like mix of the two first ones. So the only good beer there in my opinion was the sparking beer as they had captured the bubbles of sparkling wine and flavour of a beer.

As I had found the place in Google and made my family walk cross the city there, I felt I had to buy something home and make it look like it was all worth it.

When buying beer home the waiter took my card, dialed 140czk (5.50€) over price in the machine and swiped my card with the wireless payment. Gave the receipt plus card and instantly dissapeared.

After waiting a moment and stopping the waiter comforting the overpricing the waiter just explained maybe thinking an more expensive beer... Got more of the beer exactly worth of the 140czk, but still not happy as its not that good...

Completely lost my trust...

The waiter Jarka was so rude with us. We had to eat our meal (cold and not so tasty) without drinks because he got ungry. He made us to paid the food just after order and then tell us that we can not order beer and we have to eat and go.

Why he was ungry? We wanted to order a girafe (big beer) but he saids that is not good because it get warm. Maybe he was lazy to clean the big glass because we insist and he saids that we can´t only drink small beer. After he told us that we have to paid before to eat.

Paying food at one restaurant where the waiter dont permite me to drink and it talked bad to me screaming because I wanted to order one beer he didnt want to serve it was an humillation.

You can find so many restaurants with good food, good beer and good service just 100 meters...
