Great atmosphere and wine, but the food was only so-so. We had the six course menu with wine, which results in 17 servings throughout the five hour dinner.

Each dish was accompanied by a small introduction by the chef who made it. Everything was beautifully presented and the food was often set in bowls with a nature element (stones, sea shells, corn, etc...). The wines were introduced with a little rehearsed story told by the waiters.

The menu for our evening started with sea food (oysters, crab, lobster, fish) before moving onto to game (dear tartare and a tiny bit of ham). Finally, we ended up with desserts, which were mostly with apple.

Most of the food tasted really good it was consistently very elegantly presented. However, some of it like the small rolls of dear tartare had very little taste. More disappointingly, though, was the waiting time between each course. We often found ourselves waiting with nothing to nib on but the wine. The delicious bread was long gone after the first hour had passed. The pace started out really well with six small snacks served one after another in the first 30 minutes. After that, we sometimes had 20-30 minutes between the courses, which was too long.

Another big problem was that people left hungry. The portions were tiny, often no more than a single mouthful. Even the main course was disappointingly small, with each person receiving a little stick of meat together with some mushrooms. Other fine dining restaurants solve this by making sure that there is at least one dish with a few potatoes or similar on the side. At Tabu, not a single dish came with a bit of rice, potato, pasta, or similar.

Afterwards, I had a quick stop at Burger King, which isn't the point after having paid 1,200 kr for a dinner (about $200).
