Tasty. Fun. Not authentic donburi. But who cares if it tastes really good?? 1. Go to the Wikipedia of donburi. Many types are stewed ingredients (in soy, broth and/or sweet cooking wine) and then pouring this on top of plain rice. They fail to mention tataki-don (mix of chopped raw tuna and tuna fat) or other types of Don with plain rice + pure ingredients. 2. Kombo (a foreign word properly spelled with the correct alphabet) implies combination. The food is a bit of a mix of concepts. Which to repeat: delicious. 3. The lanterns outside say "Sushi". 4. The sign outside says Donburi-Foods. Only the first of the two Japanese kanji figures is needed for Don or Donburi. 5. Please go to YouTube and watch how to make Oyakodon (Mother & Child dish) and Gyudon (beef stewed in dark sheet soy with onions). They are very popular dishes in Japan. Mother (chicken) and child (egg) Oyakodon is amazing. So again. Do I care if it's authentic? Nope. Did I have fun chatting to the chef about it? Yup. Rice was delish (vinaiger or spicy was another one that confused me. I expected plain rice). Cucumber pickles were really really good. Can I have your recipe? Marinated eggs were gooey and tasty. One of my favorite Japanese toppings. So yum! I realized I was hungry enough for a second bowl. So I went for it. The Gyudon is more traditional than the oyakodon :). I got supplementary marinated eggs because they're yum! (Foto)

Lovely little restaurant located in the calm yet animated streets of Montpellier. Coming from a Japanese background, the portions were correct and the taste was ok. The rice could have been more tasty. The sando sandwiches were good and the chicken crispy! Waiting time was around 20mins for 5 people. The gentleman working in the restaurant forgot to bring tea and apologised by offering mochi to all of us. Very kind of him!

Delicious bowls, I specifically recommend the one with salmon and avocado. It pleases me to see properly cooked rice and taste a perfectly balanced combination of creamy, sour, and umami. Although there are not many seats available, one can usually find spare chairs easily. The staff is very nice and friendly and...
