CHIX Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Berlin

Edit: this restaurant tried to take down my review for defamation. I personally believe they’ve done that for other negative reviews, boosting their rating.

The Firecracker used to be my favourite burger, but they recently changed the way they make it and now I don’t like it anymore. I’m very disappointed. I’ve ordered many times before and after the comment below and it’s been a night and day change since. I don’t recommend this place anymore.

I keep trying again but results really vary. Texture now is terrible. The chicken used to be baked with a ton of crispiness, just look at the pictures. The chicken since the change hasn’t been the same, it’s poorly cooked and has zero crispiness. Just a light wrapping of bread with no bulk or crispiness.

When the restaurant started wrapping the burgers in wax paper, that’s when it got bad. It used to be that you couldn’t even have wrapped them in wax paper! They were massive and crispy. No longer!

Then, the wax paper used for delivery makes it even worse. The wrapping holds in moisture and makes the whole thing soggy by the time it arrives. So often the burgers are just a big mushy mess.

That goes especially for parts of the burger that are supposed to be crunchy. The burger with corn… I personally suspect the crunchy corn was probably already stale and chewy before put on the burger? Certainly it wasn’t crunchy when I got it. Just chewy and weird. I mentally compared it to a McDonalds burger :/

Overall the sauces are supposed to work in tandem with a ton of crisipiness on the chicken. That’s what made it work before. But the chicken isn’t crispy anymore. The descriptions and pictures are now misleading, they don’t match the burgers that I’ve received over 5-10 orders over the last few months. And the packaging makes the whole thing worse. It’s hard to evaluate the taste compared to what it’s supposed to be; you say the recipe didn’t change but the texture is now just bad and that changes the taste...

Went there for the chicken, ordered two burgers. The fried chicken is great! Light, crunchy, flavourful. The burgers were a bit messy and overfilled but both tasted really great (the 'spicy' one with nashville hot saucee, and the one with onions- red something), nice sauces, fresh ingredients. Can avoid coleslaw, just overly creamy. The downfall is the location - its clean and so on to sit inside, great for a quick bite. For anything longer, it has little to no vibe. would take out or order for delivery. ...

Truly a unexpected gem! Just as I was walking through the area around the abandoned Airport, which by the way Is a must see, I stumbled across this as small as arousing place. The fried chicken sandwich Is just amazing, and the fried are to die for. The prices are a bit on the expensive side but It Is totally comprehensible due to the general prices in Berlin. Service was fast as well, and in general i have to say that this is one of the most pleasing finds I had...
