This is an average restaurant at best. Compared to other Ethiopian food experiences I've had in Berlin and elsewhere, this feels like a very poor analog of what Ethiopian food is supposed to taste like. I already had doubts as we walked in and didn't see a single Ethiopian person in sight. In the kitchen there also didn't seem to be any actual Ethiopian people employed. The food came out VERY quickly (maybe 2-5 minutes after ordering), which sounds like a positive, but when food comes out that quick it usually means it's all pre-prepped and just microwaved. The taste of the food was ok, but lacked the real depth and nuance of proper Ethiopian cuisine. The Njera was dense and dry without the distinctive sour dough flavour I've come to expect. I suspect this place is part of a chain and makes its money through heavy marketing and mass prep of the various dishes in advance. It was my sister's birthday and she wished to go to an Ethiopian restaurant, and we picked this one. We told the waitress she'd pick the table because it was her birthday. We had the Samosas and the house special platter. Not only the food was really outstanding, but the portions were quite large. But the biggest surprise was at the end of the dinner, my sister went to ask the bill and the waitress came back with a dessert with a firework on top, and she played a happy birthday song for my sister!
