Specifically wanted to come here to try the Beyond Meat burger and that exotic Canadian classic: poutine.
The poutine surprised me, because it tasted familiar. It had the same flavour as frieten met stoofvlees, which is a common fry shack order in Belgium. Just with added cheese curds. I would never have guessed that's what it's related to. Maybe this was the German take on it, and poutine in Canada is different yet.
The Beyond Meat burger was like the uncanny valley of food. I do eat meat, and only tried this burger out of curiosity after seeing glowing reviews online. So maybe that's why the differences stood out to me, and them being only very slight kind of bugged me out. It's -almost- exactly like a real burger.
I think this would be the perfect alternative for someone who doesn't want to eat actual meat anymore, but misses having a burger. If it's been a while since you've had meat, I don't think you'll notice any of the differences.
The meat burger choices were either medium or well done, but they came out medium-rare. The server was lovely and the interior retro-cosy. If you feel like having a juicy burger and an interesting drink, this is the...
Read moreI had high expectations for Otto’s Burger, but unfortunately, my visit fell short in several areas. The overall experience was underwhelming, and there’s definitely room for improvement across the board.
Starting with the food: the burger arrived looking mashed and poorly assembled, which affected both presentation and texture. While the patty had potential, the overall execution made it difficult to enjoy. The sweet potato fries, which I was particularly looking forward to, were far too salty—overpowering any natural flavor they might have had.
Service was another letdown. Staff were slow to respond, and it was difficult to get attention even when the restaurant wasn’t overly crowded. This lack of attentiveness took away from the overall dining experience.
As for the atmosphere, it was fairly average—nothing particularly memorable or inviting. It had the casual burger joint vibe, but without much personality or comfort.
Overall, Otto’s Burger didn’t live up to the hype. With improvements in food preparation, seasoning, and more responsive service, it could be a much better spot. For now, though,...
Read moreThanks to the server who recommended that I get the crispy "chicken burger" with the vegetarian "meat" substitute. I was unsure at first, but figured he knew what he was talking about! Also, please note that the patties are vegetarian, but you can sub for real meat for an extra cost (about 1 or 2 euros, can't remember exactly, but it was not by much)! The burger was delicious (but not enough bun for the "meat" and little bit too much sauce to the point where everything was sliding out of the bun. I noticed others eating their burgers with a fork and knife (probably cleaner), but it was too late as I had already dug in with my hands. We also had rosemary fries, but it was just fries with fresh rosemary sprinkled in. I also ordered a homemade ginger mango lemonade, but I only tasted ginger in it (basically tasted like ginger ale). 😅 Food came quite quickly. They have a women's bathroom with hygiene products which was so nice to see! They have indoor and outdoor seating, speak English, accept card. Dogs...
