Guru E-Damm — Restaurant in Hanover

Previously, I had a misunderstanding when I visited the restaurant first time a few months back, but I continued to visit the restaurant. They have substantially improved them. I particularly recommend the Paneer Tikka Masala, which was quite good. Service was also pleasant.

Today on 14.02.2023 I was at GuRu to go near Christuskirche, Hannover for the first time and I was extremely disappointed. I would not recommend the restaurant for the following reasons:

1. General impressions: (a) Poor! On the auspicious V-day they had a 'couple menu' (attached picture), and when I asked about the menu and the price to the receptionist they said it is 29.90 Eur/per person/per dinner. Then why the heck did you write the title 'Liebe Isst...' if you are not providing the food together to the couple with that price? Normal items are less expensive than this. Then what is special in that special 'V-menu'? The menu defies my common sense! (b) Finally, I have chosen a few items from the normal menu card after washing my hand. The waiter noted down the items and said you have to order going to the counter by paying first. C'mon, I just washed my hand and was not flying stealing their money! Its disgusting... (c) Then I paid. The counter-person asked me if I need a bread (naan). I have 13 mins (not 10, not 15, they said exactly 13!!! thats derogatory) to decide (13 mins to be 21 o'clock). Now, I am there for the first time and how do I know how much quantity of rice they provide and if I need a naan/an extra bread? In the website it is written to be closed at 10 pm.
2. Quantity and Price: Quantity is very less compared to the price.
3. Menu: Paucity of the menu was the main reason that I never tried this restaurant before in last 3 years of my stay in Hannover. 'Saag Paneer' is the all you have in the main-dish of Paneer? C'mon!?
4. Taste: I took a Kofta (with rice) and a tea. Unfortunately, the Kofta was not of authentic taste. I won't recommend. The tea was rather okay. Then finally they sensed my disappointment by seeing my face and offfered a dessert for free. The dessert has not sufficiently sweet. I rated 2 star, 1 for the tea, 1 for their final effort. Now choice is yours if you want to visit...

I have been here twice now and both times received brilliant service. The food is great, it has to be the best Indian/Punjabi food that you will find in Hanover (and I am indian so that says something). If you want authentic Indian food you need to ask them to make it Indian style (spicy with all the different herbs and spices)....

Freundliches Personal. Man geht selbstständig zum Tresen und bestellt essen und trinken und bezahlt direkt. Dann wird einem das essen gebracht. Dort ist auch ein Platz, um sein Kram dann selbst wegzubringen.

Essen ist wirklich sehr lecker. Wir hatten als Vorspeise so frittiertes Gemüse (vegetable pakora) und als Haupspeise Saag Paneer (indischer käse mit Spinat und fenugreek - das Grüne auf dem Bild) und eine Hauptspeise mit Hähnchenfleisch, welches sehr zart war. Dazu haben wir naan Brot bestellt mit Knoblauch. Alles hat super geschmeckt.

Hauptspeisen sind ca. Um die 10/11 Euro zu bekommen. Für Vegetarier und veganer gut was dabei.

Direkt an der Christuskirche ist der Laden zu finden. Man kann drinnen und draußen sitzen. An sich hat der Laden vom Stil auch irgendwie etwas, man kann dort gut ein Weilchen sitzen.

Was mir bei dem laden sofort aufgefallen ist, ist der intensive appetliche Geruch, wenn man in den Läden reinkommt. Kann ich gar nicht richtig beschreiben, sehr angenehm und man bekommt Lust...
