6 years ago, I first had Chinese (Szechuan) hotpot and it was the most delicious eating experience. Since then, anytime I visit somewhere new and see a restaurant offering hotpot, spicy ramen, etc. I simply HAVE to try it. And nothing has every satisfied in the same way as the first time...until now. Mala Kitchen has easily matched (and could beat - if there was an option for a hard boiled egg ;)) that first experience. You can choose exactly which items you want and which broth you prefer. I had chili spetialität mit sehr sharf, and it was the perfect spice level for me (a white guy who loves spicy food). You can add your own toppings including minced garlic and fresh coriander - which I find heightens any meal. Read moreFood is great, the very spicy wasn't spicy to me. Adding extra chillis at the self service centre where the sauces were helped make the "spicy" option a bit better. Ingredients went very well with the "Chilli Spezialität" broth, it was tangy and had a lukewarm spiciness to it.
Cooking time was pretty quick, around 8~10mins.

Every time I visit, I notice that many tables are left cluttered with used plates for an extended period, which affects the overall dining experience. Additionally, the sesame paste is noticeably thin, likely diluted to cut costs. Another concern is hygiene—I suspect that pots are not properly cleaned between customers.
