Thao — Restaurant in Munich

I am very disappointed with this place and definitely do not recommend it to not German speaking people. Among 4 or 5 waiters nobody spoke English. There was just one waiter who was sent to me to explain how the lunch menu works (he also didn’t speak English), and instead of really explaining he was just pointing with the finger names of the dishes and was saying that I can take “this and this and this” (literally everything, and it was already clear since it was a menu). Eventually without really knowing how it works and what I order I wasn’t satisfied with the dish which was brought . When I went to pay I found out that instead of lunch price of 9.70 I need to pay 16 euro. Of course it is not the money issue, but I felt like they took an advantage of me since I didn’t understand anything and didn’t even eat some dishes because didn’t know that I ordered them. Surprisingly the lady who I was paying to immediately started to speak English even though before she refused to take an order from me motivating it with not speaking English at all. The service in this place is definitely to improve, cuz service is not only how quick you are, but also how good you are treating your customers. Speaking a bit more of English, and little smile sometimes might be enough (the lady was very grumpy- and I could see that she wasn’t even trying to smile cuz her mask was somewhere under her nose and face was really visible, so Covid also does not exist for them). Fantastic. I visit this place regularly, and they have never failed to impress me. The food is fresh, tasty, and fast. Usually I visit this playe in my lunch break, and their lunch menu for just under 10€ comes in very handy. I have yet to order a food that I didn't like, and I have been there a fair couple of times, usually once per week for about one and a half years now. The staff is friendly and helpful, although some members have a bit of trouble with German, which has never caused any issues though. The restaurant itself is cozy and is decorted very tastefully, nothing is over the top or too clichee in there. Reservation in advance is recommended since it is a very busy place, usually about an hour in advance for lunch and about 3 or 4 for the evening is enough though.

Preisleistung nicht gerechtfertigt. Der Reis war verkocht. Mein Curry in einer Kokosnuss war wie Wasser. Als ich das reklamierte, wurde mir gesagt das ist kokoswasser. Aber wer mag Kokoswasser mit Gemüse ohne gewürze mit Reis essen, wenn man Curry mit gemüse erwartet. Daneben wurde mir eine kleine Schale serviert mit Gemüse und Curry das konnte man essen, war aber nichts besonderes. Für das Gericht habe ich 25€ gezahlt. Das Gemüse in der Kokosnuss habe ich so wie ich es bekommen habe auch zurück gehen lassen. Da ist der Lieferdienst sogar besser 😒 Die Rechnung hatten wir erst bekommen als wie es zum 3 mal gesagt hatten und das dann einer anderen Bedienung. Wasser für unseren Hund hatten wir auch erst nach mehrmaligem erwähnen bekommen. Wir sind zu dem Vietnamesen gegangen, da die Bewertungen sehr gut laut google sind. Wir saßen draußen am Straßenrand, es gab keine Tischdecke, keine Deko nichts schönes, keine Kerzen einfach nichts. Der Tisch total hässlich und kaputt, da will man nicht mal Fotos machen 🙈 Die Inneneinrichtung ist auch nicht schön sowie die Toilette Total unhygienisch und kaputt. Wir haben für 2 Hauptgerichte einer Vorspeise und zwei Geränke 60 Euro gezahlt. Nachspeise hatte ich auf der Speisekarte nicht gesehen und wollte auch nach so einer Hauptspeise das nicht mehr riskieren. Ich gehe gerne Vietnamesisch essen und bestelle immer 3 Gänge und zahle natürlich auch gerne mehr. Aber wenn das Essen die Location nicht passen dann ist der Preis nicht gerechtfertigt. das Lokal hat für mich keine weiterempfehlung verdient.
