Great hotel! Rooms are updated and unique while still maintaining the building’s historic character. The location is perfect. We loved exploring Schiltach. The owner was extremely welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable on the area and things to do and see - and an excellent chef to boot. We really enjoyed our stay here and wished it could have been longer - definitely recommend!

What an amazing experience...from the truly warm welcome to the phenomenal food and wine. One of the best dinner experiences of my life. The food was fresh and delicious. My Argentinian rib eye was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Dessert was a dream, flawless evening. And the hotel is fantastic as well. Already planning the next trip back.

Similar to some travellers' comments, the hotel owner (the man) was unfriendly. The most ridiculous thing was that you needed to pre-advise the owner the next day breafast choice and the no. of perosn taking breakfast, despite that the type of room already indicated the potential no. of guests. Otherwise, they would not prepare any breakfast for you.||||Yet, we did fall into this "trap" and forgot the advise fully our breakfast choices (indeed every human being needs to take breakfast normally without the need to declare). As a result, the owner only prepared only one set of breakfast for two of us. We accepted this result as we believed that it was our fault not to inform them in advance.||||However, the most absurd thing happened was that I was blamed by the owner for not advising them in advance. He actually scolded me in front of other guests in the restarant, blaming me for not responding his message. Indeed, we were too busy travelling around the town after check-in and forgot to frequently review emails. As a resonable man, how could you expect a tourist to monitor its email when he/she was busy travelling. I remained silient afterall despite his scolding in order not to arouse further his emotion. Yet, he kept of blaming me "3 rounds"! It was insane!||||In short, from hotel perspective, it is a sin that customer does not pre-advise the breakfast details to the hotel. Despite that customer "loses" his breakfast as a 'punishment', he/she needs to be further blamed and scolded by the onwer!||||I guess that this hotel might be a bit racial discriminating against Asian as he was nice to other western travellers (owner was talking nicely with other western ppl) notwithstanding that I was treated in a totally...

I do not write long reviews, but this deserves my time. The only thing about this boutique hotel is the price. I t is not a hotel at all. At best, they are serviced apartments (which are quickly cleaned while you're having breakfast, because the whole hotel is locked up directly afterwards)The owner/manger was rude and had an argument with, well actually tried to berate me (because of a cancelled restaurant booking) which he tried to charge me 50 euros each, and although we gave plenty of time (37hrs) when cancelling (for genuine personal reasons) and this was in front of guests at breakfast. He said that he had 'purchased all the items from the market - how he knew what I was going to order was very clever indeed. The hotel, and I use that term lightly, is advertised as having a bar and restaurant and outside space which are all open from Tues/Sat - They were not. As soon as the breakfast was finished, all doors were locked, everyone disappeared and you had leave by the side door - you could not gain access to any part of the hotel at anytime during the day, or night, as all doors were locked. There was no one on site until the next morning at breakfast (which you had to order the day before, and could not change it) No front desk staff, no receptionist, no guest service agent, nothing. When asked if we could get a drink in the evening, we were told there was a 'vending machine' in the hall by the stairs. Don't be fooled by the slick website. It is not what's advertised. Totally disappointed and feel cheated. - have tried contacting them several times and have not had any response at all; not surprised really. Don't book this place, you will be disappointed and...
