Excellent location, friendly and efficient service and seafood was great too!!i The Agkyra is located along the waterfront's restaurant row in Kos town. It faces the Turkish coast and is located directly seaside . From the street you can look directly through to the Aegean sea. The initial impression as you walk in was of casual elegance. Tables are spaced discreetly out toward the sea with every table having an Aegean sea view. My table was directly waterside . The service was prompt but relaxed. No hovering which I like but attentive . My server was the very friendly and capable Sidorella. I ordered a glass of house red which was excellent. I also ordered a Greek salad (of course ) and along with that a fried anchovy app and the saganaki mussels. The anchovies came out first along with the Greek salad. The anchovies were lightly battered and then fried in olive oil---delicious when served with the wedge of lemon. The Greek salad was excellent too although I felt it needed a bit more tartness and applied a squeeze of lemon. Perfect! The mussel dish was served about 20 minutes later which gave me ample time to enjoy the ocean sunset at tableside. The mussel were also perfectly well cooked with a tomatoey cheese sauce---very different from any other time I've had mussels. Delicious ! Although no dessert was ordered, Sidorella brought out a very tasty slice of banana cinnamon cheesecake , compliments of the house!. Super smooth and creamy. The entire meal along with the great service and exceptional view was a reasonable 40 Euros. Very walkable from the Kos town waterfront. Highly recommended Final take---Go and be sure to say hi...
Read moreThis experience is hard to match in Kos city. The restaurant is hidden down by the beach. Tables and chairs are literally on the sand but without it being annoying. Sitting there in the calm, dark aegian night with the sound of the waves adding to the aromatic scent of the tropical flowers makes this a perfect romantic aesthetic experience. The service is beyond friendly and sweet. They speak better English than at most restaurants in Greece and they are knowledgeable about food and wines. We got recommended a mix of fish and shellfish and the appropriate local pairing of white wine. Every item on the plate was a journey of taste and senses, and every sip of wine was like a trusty friend guiding you on the way. From the calamari, over the several kinds of grilled fish to the perfectly steamed mussels. Everything was an explosion of taste. For the traveller who enjoys an off-track eatery that doesn't attract the tourist crowds but rather caters to the individual guest, I give my whole hearted recommendation of Agkyra. When in Kos, do pay these wonderful...
Read moreMy Husband & I came to kos as one of our final destinations for our honeymoon. Looking over which restaurants were highly recommended on the island I came across Agkyra and made a reservation almost immediately. Being Greek myself I was excited to try authentic Greek salad and dishes as our other few meals in Greece I didn’t quite have that experience. As I made a reservation online my note had that we just got married and would love a great view of the water. Not realizing that when We got there that we would get the best table in the entire restaurant right beside the ocean!! The view was exceptional and service was amazing, this absolutely was the best meal I’ve had in Greece by far everything tasted so fresh & flavourful. To end off our dinner the server brought us complimentary cheese cake that she actually made herself for the restaurant and it was the lightest smoothest cheesecake I’ve ever had!! That being said I would highly this place to anyone visiting kos & we would come back in a heartbeat!...
