Barong | Lounge Restaurant | Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Piraeus

The cafes and restaurants here can be packed and daunting - talk to the ‘host’ outside, they all have one and get seated as soon as a table comes free. We have been to Barong Lounge twice now, once for a snack and once for lunch, both times the experience was well worth it. It is themed as a ‘lounge’ with a very, very relaxed atmosphere and gentle non intrusive DJ music. Don’t go there if you are in a hurry, while service is excellent and the staff are very attentive orders take a while to appear, not too much of a problem as you are given water when seated and nobody is rushed out. There are plenty of other reviews with pictures, I will just say the menu is large, varied, with fish and meat dishes, snacks and ‘brunches’ like the club sandwich, a great snack for 2! We had a variety of main courses for lunch, Aperol Spritz, beer and wine (2 each) and all very good freshly cooked dishes (I had the basic burger, veal, cheese, bacon, garnish and a fried egg in a bun with fries at 13 Euros and it was fantastic, I couldn’t eat all the fries!) for just over 120 euros for four adults, then 2 incredible banoffi pies came ‘on the house’! Barong has a wonderful vibe, The location is at Marina Zea so you are seated right in front of the beautiful yachts, The  service is amazing and every refreshment or bite I have had has been Great! They also have some hanging chairs that I love to relax and swing in! It is clear the staff is extremely client-focused, because every time I visit (and I have been coming to Barong for multiple years now) everything is seamless. Including the temperature. It could be boiling hot outside but they have set up the fans and air-conditioning in a way where it is always comfortable, no matter the weather. On my last trip to Barong, prior to arriving, I was having an extremely stressful day, but my server Xristiana was absolute perfection! The whole staff was extremely accommodating! I have dietary restrictions which she remembered throughout my whole visit, had wonderful Suggestions, and also made sure the staff were all aware as well! It’s one of my favorite places in Piraeus but I can’t cope with the fact that it’s now one of the most expensive places to go for a freddo espresso. Unfortunately, I had to stop going almost every day, otherwise my wallet would cry 😂 anyway, I still super recommend this place! The view is amazing - I mean, it’s a marina, how couldn’t it be amazing? The staff is super friendly and even tho I’m not Greek, they always reply to me in Greek when I speak with them in Greek, that helps me a lot with my learning. There’s some places that the staff gets mad when we try to speak their language, thankfully this is not the case 🫶🏼 the coffee shop itself is gorgeous - I love the flowers and the environment there! I don’t know if they still do this because I stopped going so often but they used to offer waffles or iced drinks in some specific hours of the day!
