I was a bit disappointed to be honest (I was charged for the complementary bread, read on for more). The food was alright, I had the beef in tomato sauce, my other half had squid. prior to this, when we arrived they brought some bread out, with a cheese dip. It was excellent actually. We also had some cheese croquetas that were really good. My beef was nice but a little dry, my other halfs squid was nice but there was literally nothing on the plate except squid, not even a tiny side salad just to make the plate look vaguely more interesting. Lovely wine, lovely service too. But then the bill came. There was something on it I couldn't account for, so I questioned it as I was paying. It was the bread. IT WAS THE BREAD. You walk into a restaurant, and if it's a decent place they might bring you a bit of bread and butter or whatever over to warm you up. But to charge me for it?! I didn't order it! You can't bring it over and throw it on the table as if it's complementary and then charge me for it! Don't get me wrong it wasnt a lot of money I just find that really distasteful. in general it was a fine experience but evidently...
Read moreI came to Santorini in search of an authentic Greek food experience, and was fortunate to have stumbled across The Traditional.
Away from the tourist areas of Fira and Oia where you will find extremely overpriced Greek food catered to the tourist, this family owned business cooks everything from scratch, and really embodies the taste of Greece. The service is amazing, and this place really knows how to make you feel like they are cooking for their own family.
You won't be disappointed. Just take a look at my pictures and start drooling. The price is a fraction of what you will pay in the tourist areas, and the portions are enormous. If you are looking for an authentic Greek experience, I would highly recommend The...
Read moreWe came late night after working up our hunger from our 40min walk. A bit surprised they charged for bread (0.80 per person), and it didn’t come with any butter, oil or anything. The service was friendly and quick however the food was OK. We ordered the Feta Saganaki (probably spelled that wrong lol), the Dakos salad (we had better in Athens), Pasta and sauce (standard) and the Chicken Souvlaki. The best was the actual chicken skewers as it was flavoured nicely, however it came with a ketchup mayo instead of Tzatziki which was super disappointing. Overall good for a...
