On Oct. 01, 2025, I went with a friend for lunch at Casa Mexa at the Síp Street location in downtown Budapest. It was the first time at this restaurant for both of us and we were both impressed. I got the Tinga quesadilla (shredded chicken, onions, smoked chipotle) and my friend got the Birria quesadilla (beef, onions, smoky chilies and herbs). It was very fresh, served piping hot and the flavor and texture was amazing! Definitely the best quesadilla I have had in Central Europe and possibly the best anywhere. I also ordered guacamole with tortilla chips and that was great too. The guacamole was very fresh and tasty and the tortilla chips were genuine hand-made. Made with corn, crunchy and thick so they don’t break off when you dip it in something thick like guacamole or refried beans. Nothing like the crappy mass-market tortilla chips you buy in the supermarket. My friend said this is where all the latinos in Budapest come to eat and, if true, I can see why.
It has a relatively limited menu, but I view that as a positive. They do fewer things but do them very well. I think this is way better than too varied a menu trying to be all things to all tastes. The only thing I found a bit strange is they did NOT have any jalapenos or other kinds of hot peppers to add to my quesadilla. They have some hot sauces, but that's not the same as having the peppers in your food. Not a big deal, but I think this is the first Mexican restaurant I have been to that didn't have jalapeno.
It is not a formal sit-down restaurants with waiters n’shit. It is fast casual, meaning you order and pick up your food at the counter. There is relatively limited, counter-type seating but that’s not a big deal if the food is good. Will definitely...
Read moreI've grew up in Texas eating tex-mex once a week, and have eaten Mexican food in different parts of the world, including Mexico itself- this place is the most meat I have ever received on tacos.
It may not come across in the photo, but you can see how far apart the shells openings are. EVERY bite was overflowing with pulled beef. Idk if it's just because it's Sunday and they're getting rid of stock or what, but nothing has ever come close to the portion size (I got the two specialties- the quesabirria & guacamole)
Also, the chips that came with the guac were literally the hardest/crunchiest I've ever encountered. I've always maintained chips could never be too hard, but these honestly put that theory to the test. I loved them, but they risk cutting your mouth if you're not careful, lol
I don't get to have Mexican food often anymore, because I've only visited the U.S. once in the last 4 years. 5/5...
Read moreI’ve been wanting to try a burrito my whole life, but because I’m allergic to beans, I never could. I finally picked this place after reading great reviews and hearing good things from friends. I made it crystal clear THREE times that I can’t have beans. Got home, excited to finally try it, and what do I find? BEANS. Everywhere. I had to drop everything, take an antihistamine, and then spend my night picking beans out of my food just so I could taste it without risking a reaction. My allergy isn’t life-threatening, but that doesn’t make this okay. Honestly, the burrito was tasty, but the experience was ruined. I wanted to enjoy authentic Mexican food, not perform surgery on my dinner. Two stars only because the flavor was good but at what cost. this was careless and really disappointing guys. not...
