Cafe Restaurant Dunhagi — Restaurant in undefined

One of the worst restaurant experiences we have had in a very long time. We paid too much and it seemed deliberately done.

When we got the bill, 2500 kroner was overcharged. When we did the calculations ourselves with the menu next to us and pointed this out to the waiter, he told us that there had been a mistake in the calculation and gave us a new price.

The new price was still 1,300 kroner too high. On inquiring, he informed us that this was because one of the drinks was more expensive than suggested on the menu because it was 50 cl instead of 33 cl (not on the menu). 1500 kroner instead of 500 kroner. Surely that seemed absurdly more sudden. We spoke to the waiter about this and he assured us to refund the full amount anyway.

He returned to the table with the message that we were refunded 1200 kroner (so still 1300 short). As we did not feel like further trouble, we left.

Afterwards, it turned out that the 1200 krona was also only 1185 krona, so lied again.

The waiter made mistakes early in the evening by forgetting drinks at both us and the table next to us, even though only four tables were dining in the restaurant.

Went here to treat ourselves to some authentic Icelandic food „with a twist“ :) Entering Café Dunhagi felt like coming home, we were welcomed like friends by the lovely hostess/cook and felt comfortable immediately! Our server was so friendly and warm and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed! Special wishes were considered, the food came in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious. Anyone traveling through the Westfjords has to stop here. We showed up just before closing (classic) and the owner said we should take our time and enjoy our stay. We had local trout and lamb and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. As she took our plates, she said “I’m glad you liked it, I put my heart and life into it”… and it shows in her cooking.
