If you find yourself driving between Hella and Vik, make sure to stop at this hidden gem of a restaurant in Hella, Iceland. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the experience from the moment we sat down by the river. The atmosphere was authentically Icelandic, creating a cozy, welcoming vibe that perfectly matched the stunning views.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience, offering warm, attentive service that made us feel right at home. The food was the real highlight—my husband had the freshest salmon, caught from the very river we were overlooking, and I opted for the melt-in-your-mouth beef tenderloin. Every bite was simply perfect, and when the chef came out to personally check on us, we were already planning our return.

This restaurant is the kind of place that feels like a special, intimate find, and it’s definitely worth the stop. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy great food, amazing service, and the beauty of Icelandic nature. Highly recommended! Lastly, the location is right on the river. When I was looking at Google maps it showed the restaurant on the street behind the river,...

During our trip to Iceland, we had the pleasure of dining at Fjárhúsið Hella, a wonderful place that impressed us with its warm atmosphere and impeccable service. The special touch? The kitchen is led by a talented Italian chef who masterfully combines authentic flavors with top-quality local ingredients.

We tried the fish soup, rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of seafood flavors. The lamb soup was warm and comforting, with incredibly tender meat and a wonderfully aromatic broth. The salmon, incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, confirmed the outstanding quality of the ingredients used.

The service was exceptional: the staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer great recommendations. The restaurant’s ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes.

If you’re in Iceland and looking for a culinary experience that blends the best of Italian tradition with local flavors, Fjárhúsið Hella is a must-visit. We will...

WOW! Our multigenerational group, ages 4 to 84, had a wonderful meal and time here! Excellent Riverside restaurant, with outdoor seating available. Delicious food, exceptional service, family friendly, and very good prices. The menu had such a great variety that there was something for everyone. (The fish and chips were unbelievably good!) Toys, a small play area for the children, and terrific pizza made it their favorite restaurant of the trip. They have a nice selection of beers and wine and wonderful desserts. Truly a...

After a long travel day, this was our first proper meal in Iceland and oh, my goodness. It was amazing and delicious. The staff was very helpful and the food was amazing. We got fish and chips and a few other items. Didn’t take pictures before because we were so hungry but it was so good. It was 8 of us and it was very filling. Highly recommend!

I’ve wanted fish and chips since we came to Iceland a week ago - it was worth the wait❣️Sorry, I forgot to take a photo but it’s beer battered like the other photos. The gin and tonic was the best of the trip! My partner loved their lamb soup as well.
