Review of Absolute Barbecue Chandigarh
Absolute Barbecue in Chandigarh offers a unique dining experience that stands out among the city's many restaurants. As one of the top barbecue destinations in the region, Absolute Barbecue combines an expansive menu with high-quality food, excellent service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Located in the heart of Chandigarh, it attracts a wide variety of food lovers looking to indulge in a wide array of grilled delicacies. Here is an in-depth review of my experience at Absolute Barbecue in Chandigarh, covering various aspects such as the food quality, service, ambiance, and overall value for money.
Ambiance and Setting:
The ambiance at Absolute Barbecue Chandigarh is designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior is spacious, with a modern yet cozy setup. The restaurant features large tables, making it suitable for family gatherings, group dinners, and even corporate events. The seating is comfortable, with ample space between tables, ensuring a more private dining experience. The lighting is well-balanced, not too bright and not too dim, adding to the relaxed yet vibrant environment. The décor includes a combination of wood, metal accents, and bright colors that give the place a contemporary feel, with a touch of rustic charm.
The open kitchen concept is one of the standout features of the restaurant, allowing guests to observe the chefs preparing and grilling food in front of them. This interactive element adds a fun and engaging aspect to the dining experience. The aroma of grilled food fills the air, tantalizing the senses even before the first course arrives. Whether you’re seated indoors or outdoors, the restaurant manages to strike a good balance between comfort and style.
The Barbecue Experience:
The highlight of Absolute Barbecue is undoubtedly its grilling experience. The concept of a live barbecue where you can grill your own food at the table is exciting and interactive. Guests are provided with small skewers of marinated meats, vegetables, and seafood, which they can grill on the portable barbecue grill placed in the center of their table. This DIY experience is not only fun but also ensures that the food is cooked to your exact liking.
The menu offers a wide variety of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The selection of meats is impressive, including chicken, mutton, and seafood like prawns and fish. The vegetarian options are equally appealing, with offerings like paneer, mushrooms, and corn on the cob. Each item is marinated in a blend of flavorful spices, resulting in rich, smoky, and aromatic grilled dishes. The marinade is especially noteworthy, as it is neither too overpowering nor too mild, striking the right balance to enhance the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Among the non-vegetarian options, the mutton seekh kebabs and chicken wings are exceptional. The mutton is tender and juicy, perfectly cooked on the grill, while the chicken wings are flavorful with a slight charred texture. The prawns are another must-try, seasoned and grilled to perfection. The seafood options are fresh and juicy, a rarity in many barbecue joints. The marinades are rich in flavors, with subtle hints of smokiness that complement the ingredients well.
The vegetarian options are just as impressive. The paneer tikka is a crowd favorite, with a crispy outer layer and a soft, juicy interior. The corn and cheese skewers are delicious and melt-in-your-mouth. The grilled vegetables, including mushrooms, zucchini, and bell peppers, retain their freshness and add a satisfying crunch to the meal. The veg seekh kebabs and paneer malai tikka are also favorites among vegetarians, providing a savory and satisfying experience.
The Main Course:
After indulging in the fun and flavorful grilling experience, Absolute Barbecue serves a buffet-style main course. The spread is extensive, with a variety of dishes ranging from North Indian to continental, making sure that there’s something for everyone. The buffet includes a wide variety of salads,...

I am writing to express my disappointment with the experience my family and I had at Absolute Barbecue on New Year’s Eve.
My husband, our 2-year-old child, and I arrived at your restaurant at 6:40 PM. Upon arrival, Mr. Aman at the reception informed us that the restaurant was fully booked and that we could only get a table at 8:30 PM. However, when we checked your application outside, we were surprised to find that a table was available at 7:00 PM. Since it was almost 7:00 PM, we booked a table for 7:30 PM and returned to inform Mr. Aman at 7:10 PM. He then seated us but shockingly mentioned that we had to vacate the table by 8:30 PM and before leaving he mentioned same thing once more. This made us anxious as we had never experienced a time limit for dining before.
Our first starter arrived at 7:15 PM, leaving us with only 1 hour and 15 minutes to finish our meal. With a 2-year-old child, this time constraint added to our anxiety. The starters alone took over half an hour as they were served by your waiters, and the main course began only after that. Our child barely ate anything due to the rushed atmosphere.
When we sat down, the starters were served, but after a few items, the waiters stopped coming. Upon inquiry, we were told that all starter items were served, yet we noticed that three items listed on the menu were not served. When we specifically asked for items like potato salsa it took a long time to arrive. Similarly, when we requested one piece of chicken wings, the waiter placed two pieces on my husband’s plate and two on mine despite our repeated requests for just one piece each. The same happened with the tandoori chicken wings and soya chaap, which were served spicy despite our request to not to serve.
The line at the golgappa and papdi chaat counter was long enough to waste even more time, so we decided to skip it. When we started the main course, it was already late, and we ate in anxiety, fearing the 8:30 PM deadline. Meanwhile, new customers formed a line near our table because our table was first from entrance, adding to our discomfort as they kept looking at us and buffet was at farthest point from our seat.
In the end, we left without enjoying our meal, and our child, who was eating slowly, had to stop due to the time constraint. This experience was horrible and a total waste of money. We could not enjoy our New Year’s Eve and had to cook separately for our child at home.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and ensure that such incidents do not happen...

TABLE GRILL- Very good. Some items can be improved a bit more- Mushrooms, Hariyali protein punch were not upto the mark. Crispy corn and pineapple- my favourite, paneer was good though we only had it in limit, cajun potatoes- good, chaat papri- very good, chaap- good.
The plates for snacks could be larger. :)
WISH GRILL- Not the best, can be improved in taste. We tried golgappas which were good, but red sauce pasta and dimsums were not. Taste was really not appealing to the taste buds.
MAIN COURSE- Very good- We had Rajmah rice, biryani, some salads, mix veg, laccha parantha, noodles and manchurian. All were well prepared.
DESSERTS- Some were good and some were not. Some chocolate desserts had something like Hershey's syrup which did not taste good. Phirni could have been better. Custard was really bad. Cheesecake and brownie were good.
DRINKS- We were served a virgin mojito and a pepsi complimentary with buffet. They were nice. There are no cocktails, just mocktails. We ordered a lime soda later on, which was good.
SERVICE- Excellent- They took complete care of us when we needed something.
STAFF- Super nice and friendly. Mr. Sandeep Chaudhary was very kind. Others too took care of our table very well. They were open to making changes in some dishes as we requested.
DECOR- Amazing, we loved it being so colourful, exactly how we saw it online before booking. The natural light made it really ambient, we got some really nice pictures clicked here.
CLEANLINESS- Pretty much upto the mark. Washrooms were clean too.
MUSIC- Playlist needs to be completely changed, this isn't the kind of music played in restaurants. It felt like attending a wedding.
We also got a complimentary chocolate cake prepared since it was our anniversary, and the cake was wow so delicious! And the little celebration they did was cute!
Overall we had a great time here, budget- friendly and the experience you get is very appropriate to the money you spend here. Since it was our first booking, we also got Rs 150 off on booking through their app.
Would really love to visit again if the improvements are made, and looking forward to editing this review saying ''Everything is perfect''.
I actually really love the fact that they are open to seeking feedback and also called me later to ask my opinion and heard me very well. It clearly shows they are willing to become the best in this business, and with the kind of ambience they have (the best amongst all buffet places), they are sure to get there!
Thank you for a...
