Laxmi Hotel — Restaurant in Kerala

We went to this place during year end week. It was a full rush and crowded. Since it was our first kerala/munnar visit, we wanted to try authentic Kerala food/thali. Our experience as below; Greet : No greetings or enquiry about number of people and so on. Neither any token system. People were just rushing to the table before the previous patron actually finishing the food. Ordering : To our disappointment, they said south/kerala thali not available. Then we thought of ordering other veg thalis like gujarathi or Punjabi or marwadi as displayed on the menu. But again, none of them was available. We were well in time around 7:45pm :(. So we had to compromise on regular veg menu. Food quality: We ordered chapatis, dal, Manchurian, paneer, jeera rice. Everything was tasteless except jeera rice. Only good thing was jeera rice. Quantity: Moderate/average quantity. Billing: There was a chaos in billing as well. Our bill was handed over to side table. Also there was overcharge to other table. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience but for the majority of the tourist places are like that only. So you can't expect much. But there is not other good option for veg experience in this place, hence...

I have seen multiple reviews of this place hence wanted to put the recent experience for people to avoid this place. They claims to serve fresh food and takes that long time for serving you. I have ordered for an INR. 370 Thali, Which was definitely not worth the money. The rice and phulka were served hot, but all the curries in the thali were dead cold. Normally in any other places, the extra phulkas/rice is free in thali – But here they are charging separately for that. Nobody cared/came back to serve the curries for the second time and even after asking too they didn’t & pretended to be busy with the crowd. The place is busy normally since they seems to have a tie up with the taxi fellows and the same reason many travelers land up here. …. So if you have a second choice please avoid the place, Else don’t keep too much expectations and be prepared to spend the premium for “Poor” Vegetarian Food. Terrible Food and Hospitality…..They saw we were tourists so they told us only high range items were available to order. Then when fellow customers at the next table asked for our food review, we said we didn't like it so much which the owner saw and we were handed a bill while we were still eating to indirectly ask us to leave. Then another group of customer at another table asked for our review & we gave them our honest review and they got up and left and the owner saw that too and behaved very rudely with us by adding another 20 on top of the already printed bill for bisleri that we used. He also scolded his staff of 10 for the loss of business and when we were dining, no body gave 2 cents to greet or welcome or serve us. It was just an uninterested owner who didn't even look up when we walked in and even more uninterested waiter serving...
