I visited BBQ Nation at Milan'em Mall at Madurai along with my neighbourhood friends. It was a get together after a couple of decades. One of my neighbourhood friend chose this place and we just followed. If I remember correctly it was on a Wednesday evening during the 4th week of July.
I found their service and atmosphere to be good. The handwash area was clean albeit experiencing stench of urine from adjacent toilet rooms. After having dinner at BBQ Nation, we left to our respective homes. Trouble started after that. One of our friends threw up (vomitted) several times at his place. With a better immunity, I was able to sustain till the following morning and I had 2 severe burst stools. Clearly it was a sign of food poisoning. I felt terribly disappointed for trusting this place with our health.
We believe an outdated meat or poor handling led to our case of food poisoning experience. I urge the management to be serious enough to ensure no such thing happens in future. It is not a joke to charge Rs 936 per head for a buffet to eventually end up with food poisoning. When you handle meat, the fundamental requirement is to ensure food safety of consumers. This seems to be lacking in our experience.
There is no point in asking your hospitality staff to rate you in Google when you cannot maintain food standards. I have given 2-stars for ambience and hospitality. Else it would have been 1-star.

Booked slot at 12.15 and we got call to reach by 12 and we reached by 12.10 and waited for about 15 mins outside. Ambiance and Pongal decor was amazing. Not sure whether the staffs there know any language other than Hindi or English. We communicated in English and quite comfortable with it. Not an issue. Service was a bit slow than usual barbeque nation branches I have been to. But manageable. Fish and prawns tasted better compared to chicken and paneer. Mutton seekh kebab was a complete down. It's evident that it's a heated old dish. Main dish, everything was so spicy that day and we never thought we would have curd rice there 😂 Desserts, cake and other Indian dishes were so good. We experienced shortage on bowls and plates for dessert. Desert and roti place was so congested to maneuver. It's my first time having a buffet in a tier 2 city which was quite enjoyable to see the local crowd with their families, kids tha. Usually what we encounter will be IT professionals. Just don't mind their behaviour to cut queue, not saying sorry and taking more plates and bowls for their families 😜. I found it to be on funny side 😅. “I ordered the Barbeque in a Box (Chicken Biryani Overload), which was supposed to include: • 3 servings of Biryani • Prawns • Tandoori tangadi • Fish tikka • BBQ wings • Desserts (Gulab Jamun, Brownie, Halwa) • Raita • Veg salad
But what I received was completely different—only one Biryani, wheat parota, four varieties of gravy, desserts, and a veg salad. This is a huge mistake and unacceptable.
To make things worse, I tried calling the restaurant multiple times, and no one even bothered to respond. This shows a complete lack of professionalism and customer service.
