Cafe Udupi Ruchi - This restaurant is on the highway connecting Coimbatore and Mettupalayam. The vehicles which are destined for Ooty, often take a stop here. It has a huge parking space. The restaurant is styled like American Diners. One storey building with sofas like sitting spaces and small tables. The restaurant is pure vegetarian. There are several South Indian and North Indian Dishes. The waiters and waitresses are very attentive. The only con is that it takes time to prepare some dishes. Sambar Rice, Curd Rice and other staple South Indian dishes are ready (because they are prepared in bulk), but not so is the case for North Indian Dishes. Fulka (North Indian Roti) takes a lot of time, at least 10 minutes, to get ready. They will serve in steel square plates. They serve hot water too. The dishes they made are tasty no doubt. There are milk shakes and juices available too. But, the menu card is of no use as not every item will be available everyday, so make sure to communicate with the waiters and waitresses. The cost is reasonable. If you are purely vegetarian, you can attend. If you have no hurry to reach Ooty in a certain time limit, you can order North Indian...
Read moreUdupi Ruchi restaurant's ambience and location are good. In this Lockdown, most restaurants are serving very few varieties, mainly Dosa, Idly, Parotta. They said Idly, Dosa & Parotta varieties are only available, so we ordered Parotta(2 sets of Plain Kerala Parotta) & Paneer 65. They took a long time to prepare & parcel it. They said it's freshly prepared. When we opened the parcel at home, we saw 4 pcs of "Maida Chappathis". It was done with saltless batter & drenched with oil, 1 small pack of Kurma which isn't enough for 2 pcs & a smaller pack of coconut chutney. Parotta (maida chappathi)was like a chewing gum. They could've just said Parotta isn't available instead of spoiling their reputation like this. I've attached my bill here. I paid ₹350/- & they didn't return the balance ₹15 & took it as their tip. Coconut chutney was good. Paneer 65 was ok. The look of the restaurant is good attractively located on the highway but the taste of the food is a waste of money. (I've tried lots of food; road side food stalls, hotels, restaurants, food courts, in many districts, states & countries. But, this is the 1st time I've seen a restaurant serving coconut chutney...
Read moreI know this restaurant is karnataka cuisine based but the food is way too sweet for my liking👎👎👎 I ordered a veg biryani, butter Kullcha, paneer 65 and honey chilli gopi for meals. The veggies in biryani is is poorly chopped and is bigger than a usual and and very sweet! The butter Kullcha is basically a rubber, I feel like chewing on a tire.. And the starter - paneer 65 didn't have any taste, felt like eating plain paneer. And the honey chilli gopi, probably the worst of all, I think it's mostly made of honey than chilli...
even though the interior is good the serving is slightly terrible, they didn't even bother to clean up after I finished eating... The place was noisy too...
Lastly, the desert, I ordered a Summer moon delight ice cream. The taste was very delicious. Consisting three flavors- mango, butter Scotch, and the last one idk but I guess fig? I like the combination but the problem is there were I've chunks in it, making it hard to eat, it didn't contain the moisture of an ice cream....
So, I hope my review is usefull, pls I am not biased and not meant to disgrace the restaurant but just wrote my...
