Amidst the chaos and the relentless cacophony of the Dasashwamedh ghat lies a quiet, unassuming, almost poetic little haven. The uncle communicated mostly through gestures, and my own words were limited to placing a simple order: a masala dosa and a coffee. On the surface, nothing extraordinary. Yet, the strain of navigating through the suffocating crowd, the relentless press of humanity, made this humble meal feel profoundly special. The homely flavors of the dosa and the comforting warmth of the coffee carried a sense of solace I hadnât anticipated.
I savored my food in complete silence, a moment of respite in the midst of turmoil. By all accounts, this was an unremarkable experienceâa modest cafĂ©, an ordinary meal. And yet, something about this moment will linger with me. It felt like stumbling upon a bonfire after a grueling, relentless journey in a soulslike gameâa brief, much-needed sanctuary in an otherwise...
Read moreI never give bad reviews but this is what happened. I read all the gorgeous reviews and decided to head to Dosa cafe for a rose lassi. And I was planing to go back there an hour later with my friends for lunch. Upon my arrival, there were no ones at the three tables. I ordered a rose lassi, the owner told me that they do not serve lassi alone, only with food. I explained that I find it hard to eat until late every day with stomach problems and that I was coming back later. Owner refused to serve me and told me to leave. Iâm sure the lassi and good is amazing but I wonât be coming back. Iâm sorry for this review but at least people who decide to stop just for your famous lassis - they are made aware thatâs itâs not possible without food. If you had been very busy I would understand. I prefer to give my business to...
Read moreThis small 3 table 12 seater place is a gem of Varanasi. It is near to the Dashashwamedh Ghat, a little difficult to locate as G maps don't work very well in the bylanes of Benaras. Seeking directions is not much helpful as the neighbourhood is not supportive of the owner. The uncle here definitely has a story to tell provided you have patience to hear while your food is being freshly cooked at the kitchen inside. I remind you patience is what is most expected from the customers as nothing is kept precooked. As I was already full I just ordered their world famous chocolate idli, for which it took around 15..20 minutes and the taste was heavenly. P.s. it's a single idli, not a plate i.e. two, so order...
