Junkyard Cafe Dehradun - A Mixed Bag of Quirky Charm and Culinary Disappointment Junkyard Cafe in Dehradun promises a unique and vibrant experience, and it certainly delivers on the ambiance front. However, a recent visit highlighted significant shortcomings in the food quality that severely detract from the overall appeal.
Ambiance (5/5): A Feast for the Eyes The cafe's "junkyard" theme is its undeniable strong suit. The creative use of recycled materials – from tires and barrels to old car parts – transforms the space into a visually engaging and quirky wonderland. Every corner offers an "Instagrammable" photo opportunity, contributing to a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The open space is a fantastic The evening views are particularly picturesque, adding to the charm. Seating is varied and thoughtfully designed to complement the theme, generally offering good comfort and ample space.
Food & Beverages (2/5): A Major Letdown our recent experience was unfortunately quite poor, indicating a concerning inconsistency in kitchen standards. The Kadai Paneer was a significant disappointment, with the paneer tasting distinctly sour, a clear sign of it not being fresh. This is an unacceptable oversight for a basic ingredient in a popular dish. Similarly, the tandoori rotis were burnt, showcasing a lack of attention and care in preparation. our experience with these fundamental Indian dishes was far from satisfactory. This raises concerns about the reliability of the kitchen and the quality control in place..
Overall Experience (2.5/5): Ambience Can't Mask Subpar Food Junkyard Cafe truly excels in creating a memorable and vibrant ambiance, making it an appealing spot for casual hangouts, parties, and enjoying live music. The creative decor, spacious layout, and scenic views contribute to a fantastic atmosphere. However, a cafe ultimately hinges on its food quality, and in this aspect, Junkyard Cafe fell short during our visit. The unacceptable sour paneer and burnt roti indicate a serious lapse in basic culinary standards. While the unique setting is a major draw, it cannot compensate for a poor...
Read moreThe reason why I'm writing this review is that I want the person who was at the reception today know about me, if he's an employee the owner needs to take a note and if he was the owner this place will be doomed sooner or later. I went to this place today i.e 25/02/2024 in the evening around 5:00 PM, I drove 16 km just to get here, and wanted to explore a new place. But my experience was nothing short or abysmal. I was alone so I went to the reception and I waited as the person at the reception was busy with the orders and he was clarifying something to the waiter. Then after a minute he noticed me and I asked where I should sit I'm the only one, he responded by asking me "kya khayenge" as if he wanted to judge whether I'll be ordering something worth of their space. Without showing me the menu he asked that, when I asked for the menu he just pointed out the menu as if he wanted me to pick up the menu and decide then and there. After this I asked again if I'm alone where should I sit? And he then replied "wahan ped (tree) ke neeche kursi leke baith jao" is this how you treat someone? Is this the hospitality of a so-called resort? I was a bit disappointed and then I said that maybe I should come with some more people, so he bluntly replied okay, it's like he just wanted me to leave, so I left without ordering anything. This was a sad experience, I wanted to eat something because I was hungry, and I was driving for a while. This was certainly not expected, if the owner is reading this review please do consider improving your...
