Shailendra Bistro — Restaurant in Central Java

Very nice food but the experience spolied by terrible service - and I hardly ever complain about service. I went here for lunch with my family. Despite the restaurant not being really busy, and plenty of staff working, the service was really bad - almost comedy bad.

It took around 30 minutes for 2 cans of sprite to arrive despite them just being in a fridge by the bar. Another drink was forgotten by staff. I had to get my own straws in the end for the kids - despite the staff saying they would bring them.

After around an hour in the restaurant my youngest daughter's food then simply didn't arrive - despite the staff repeating our order with it included. After an hour we had to wait a further 15 mins. Ridiculous as I then even had to prompt the staff to check if it was ready.

As I said, the food and ambience was nice. I hope the staff were just having an off day because this was memorably bad service. Everyone was very friendly and polite, but just totally...

Shailendra Bistro is a small gem in Borobudur. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles. Cozy atmosphere, beautifully blending local traditional design with modern touches, creating a relaxing and inviting space - supported by refreshing air condition 😄

Every dish I tried was presented with great care. The menu offers a variety of both local and international options. The dessert options, including a lot of different gelato flavours, are also easily recommendable.

The staff went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. You can even use your time at Shailendra Bistro to stock up on souvenirs for your loved ones back home, with a fine selection of locally produced products being available for purchase.

Had such a great time eating here! Came with the fam so we all got to try each other’s food and WOW! Every single one of them, from appetizers to desserts, was so good, no misses at all, chef’s kiss😚👌 Oh, and if you love spicy food, you have to try their aglio olio. It packs a punch but still tastes amazing! Totally different from any aglio olio I’ve had before🔥 The gelato? Insane. Super rich flavor, smooth texture, and just the right amount of sweetness, not overwhelming at all. They even got taco gelato and croissant gelato!😆 The drinks were super refreshing too, you can really tell they use premium ingredients. And the ambience? Super cozy. The interior design is seriously giving!✨ Their service was also great. The staff were all very kind and friendly☺️
