It was a good meal, as you’d expect from such a high profile venue, but we weren’t blown away by it.
Our bill for 5 was 9 million rupiah, which is at the high end of Bali dinning.
What we liked:
supervisor of the floor was excellent. From the Netherlands, well travelled and understands guests needs.
our sever was excellent and all waitstaff were very attentive and kind.
amazing views of the beach
excellent glassware
What we didn’t like:
roasted vegetables served raw. Better on second attempt.
long delays with some of the food for half of the table, while others got their meals promptly. Don’t send meals until all meals are ready for the table.
Wrong steak delivered to table and then 15 minute delay to replace the steak, again, while the rest of the table ate, this person (birthday boy) waited.
overwhelming smell of lemongrass throughout the restaurant and particularly in the restrooms. Need to tone it down or choose a scent that’s not so overpowering. People either love or hate lemongrass. Choose something more neutral.
Out of the venues control (to an extent), but there was a table of 15 very drunk patrons that were continued to be served shots. Loud, unruly, using offence language. Should have been moved back downstairs as they were ruining the vibe for everyone that wanted to experience the true atmosphere of a great restaurant.
To summarise, the venue is superb, wonderful staff, but for a 5 star venue the food and timing of the food was really disappointing and didn’t match the price tag or the calibre of the restaurant.
Will we go...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Saltlick for dinner tonight and it was amazing all around.
I had the wood fired scallops and the bone marrow and tartare. Both were fantastic. I thought the bone marrow would be mixed into the tartare (that’s how I read it), but it came out as beef tartare with a side of bone marrow. Unexpected but a happy surprise. Scallops had a nice almond paste of sorts with a pineapple sauce that was delicious.
My husband ordered a steak that’s way too large for one person, but enjoyed every bite he had. We’ve been in Melbourne (AUS), Queenstown (NZ), and Auckland (NZ) the last few weeks and went to a steakhouse in each. He said this was his favorite. I took a few bites and while not a steak pro, thought it was yummy. I really liked the coffee salt and red wine salt they serve with it.
We also had some cocktails that were good as well, but the food is definitely the star.
Our server, Sumer (Sam), was also fantastic. He was very attentive and explained the menu very thoroughly to ensure we knew what the options were and got the right amount. He confirmed a few times that my husband did, in fact, want such a large steak, which I found humorous and very thoughtful to make sure he knew exactly what he was getting. Even brought it to the table to show it for a final confirmation. He was on top of it and made sure we had a good experience.
Would definitely recommend Saltlick for those looking for a good steak in the area. Well worth it and a good value for...
Read moreA Valentine’s Dinner to Remember at Saltlick
From the moment we stepped into Saltlick, we knew we were in for a special evening. The warm, inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a romantic Valentine’s dinner, but what truly set this experience apart was the incredible generosity and hospitality of the staff.
Months ago, we had received a notification for a complimentary dinner, which—admittedly—had expired. We expected to pay for our meal, but instead, the team at Saltlick honored it without hesitation, turning what could have been an awkward moment into a heartwarming display of customer service at its finest.
And the food? Absolutely divine. Every dish was crafted with precision and passion, from the perfectly seared steak to the indulgent, melt-in-your-mouth dessert. The flavors were bold yet balanced, each bite a testament to the culinary expertise in the kitchen.
But beyond the food, it was the little touches that made the evening unforgettable—our server’s attentiveness, and the way the staff made us feel truly valued. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience.
Saltlick didn’t just serve us dinner—they created a lasting memory. If you’re looking for a restaurant that goes above and beyond, where hospitality is as exceptional as the cuisine, this is the place. We’ll be back, without a doubt.
