Monika Cafe & Resto — Restaurant in South Sulawesi

Went to this place for dinner one night. There are a couple of seating areas. One is indoors where there is a small stage set aside for karaoke. The other is a covered outdoor patio. The indoor area seemed to be quite full that night so we were seated in the outdoor patio. The service is friendly and quite quick. The outdoor area just had a couple of tables occupied whereas the indoor restaurant was full and everyone in there seemed to be having fun because the karaoke was in full swing. From outside, the restaurant looks nice. Big but quite empty (maybe we were quite late, we thought). When we came in, we felt immediately, we weren’t welcome. The first attempt of the food we wanted from quite long list of foods aren’t available. Eventually, there are 2-4 foods are available. We ordered nasi capcay and buffalo steak. The steak was full of nerves that none of us couldn’t eat 😭

I gave this a 5-star on my first visit. Food was great, environment was pleasant.

I returned the next night, and WHAT A CHANGE! The food was bad (same dishes, but did not taste even remotely like night before).

There was a musician in this tiny restaurant with an amplifier turned to full volume -- and he wasn't even singing! When he took a smoke on stage, the music continued. He was just playing a tape and mouthing the song.
