The menu says there is a 10% service fee that will be added to the final bill. As Israelies we usually tip at least 10% so that was fine for us , but that statement is a bit rude though ligal. We were 4 persons and have ordered 3 salad dishes and one special "Douzani" dish. The menu says that the salads come with bread and butter. The first 2 salads were served relatively quicky( about 20-25 minutes) but no bread was served . We waited for about 10-15 minutes for the third salad to be served, and another 10-15 minutes for the special dish. After realizing that there was no intention to bring the bread , we asked one of the waitreses what about the bread, and she said that she will check. Waited for another 5-10 minutes with no progress , asked another waitress , she said that the salads are not served with bread ,although it is clearly stated in the menu. After another 10-15 minutes the first bread ( out of 3) arrived with an explanation that they have a new menu and they are not used to it. The bread was freshly baked and good. Douzan is fusion kitchen, a mix of arabic and Italian cuisine. They are both Mediterranean cooking and the fusion between the two is perfect.
We had an appetizer and main course. The bread part, kind of pizza bread, was light and nicely crusty, the sauce was aside so you could decide yourself of how much you would use and the kebab's seasoning tasted like kefta meat to me: more Turkish than Arabic, I would say. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the salad beside was fresh.
The service was quick and efficient, the waiter, rather waiterS (we met more than one) were attentive and professional and the personnel was regularly checking if we were satisfied or not. We noticed that also the first time we were there when we just had a piece of bread and a drink.
The restaurant is on Ben-Gurion Avenue, close to Bahai Garden and the terrace is below the street level, so you are protected from the noise and the smell of the circulation. That is a big plus (I rarely go terrace near a street where there are cars).
A very positive experience that I definitely...
