La Trattoria di Coppola was a disappointing experience, and the worst culinaire experience I've had in multiple trips in Italy. This was surprising for us as the 4.7 star review on google gave us high expectations. And while I normally only leave positive reviews (five stars for two other places today), this experience was so disappointing compared to the current score that I feel compelled to share my experience. We ordered two entrees, two pasta's a bottle of wine and a bottle of water for €70. A fair price for a good meal, but double that which we paid the day prior for a meal which was far superior. The entrees and bottle of wine were ok but nothing too special. The pasta's however both tasted bland and lackluster, both in pasta and sauce. It felt as if I was forcing myself to eat a dish cooked by a roomate in college that still has to learn how to cook properly. Needless to say it was well below the standard of the pasta's we cook at home, which I don't expect from a restaurant. We left well over half of both the dishes as we did not want to eat any further, which meant we left the restaurant unsatisfied (which we later fixed with a nice gelato elsewhere to turn the evening). Furthermore, the wrong food was served to the table, the table was plagued by both flies and fruitflies the entire meal, and after the staff asked about our experience and I shared my (friendly worded) honest opinion, no notable effort was made to apologise or compensate our experience.
Of course there were also positives which I'll note in fairness: The staff took the effort to greet us when we came in (although we did not receive a welcome drink which is supposedly provided). The staff was quick and attentive to the table. The pizza's looked quite okay (maybe we should've ordered those in retrospect).
All in all this has been one of the very rare cases in which we've not finished half of both our dishes in our restaurant. And we were quite shocked to see it happen in Italy, since we normally have such fabulous experiences in...
Read moreThe menu was entirely in Italian, with no translations or explanations available, making it incredibly difficult for non-Italian speakers to navigate. This was frustrating, as the staff seemed completely uninterested in helping or clarifying anything.
One of the most infuriating aspects was the so-called “risotto” section, which contained a completely misleading dish. Instead of an actual risotto, what arrived at the table was a massive, greasy, and downright revolting pizza. It was nothing more than an overwhelming pile of cheese, fat, and onions, slapped onto a thick, soggy crust. The sheer audacity of placing this monstrosity under the risotto category was beyond comprehension—either a deliberate scam or sheer incompetence.
As if that disaster wasn’t enough, the tiramisu was equally disappointing. Instead of the rich, creamy, and indulgent dessert one would expect, it was a dry, uninspired mess. The ladyfinger biscuits were so stale and brittle that they barely absorbed any of the coffee, leaving an unpleasantly rough texture. The mascarpone layer was sparse and lacked flavor, making the entire dessert a bland, joyless experience.
Overall, this was an absolute disaster of a meal. Between the deceptive menu, the appallingly bad food, and the complete lack of customer care, this place is nothing short of a joke. I wouldn’t return even if I...
Read moreI went with my girlfriend to this place at about 22:15 which was a little late and they could’ve rejected us. However, they let us in for dinner since we were tourists and we were very appreciative of it! The atmosphere was very cozy and it looks super clean. The waiter was very friendly and helpful too.
The starter that we had was unique and it’s mainly fried cheese, potatoes, and flour. Was very tasty and well cooked. My girlfriend really enjoyed the pasta as it had potatoes, cheese and raw lobsters. She said the texture was interesting and the dish was like a treasure hunt. It was like a mountain of potatoes and you are digging at it to find cool new stuff. Well in short, she loved it and she will miss it when we go back home to Singapore. I had the fish which was recommended by the waiter. It was perfectly cooked and the cherry tomatoes were excellent. A small downside was that it had scales on it so I wasn’t able to eat the skin and I had a total of about 5 tiny bones. Honestly it wasn’t a big deal as the fish was still delicious and I would...
