Albergo Ristorante Italia — Restaurant in Serralunga d'Alba

The restaurant was delicious. The menu is simple, but I must say that it is undoubtedly because they do what they do so well, that's what they focus on. I was shocked to learn that this was also a hotel! It seemed like a restaurant focus, but I am intrigued to consider staying at their hotel sometime, as their customer service was phenomenal. If you're looking for simply great food with great service, this is a fantastic place to go. I had (& recommend) the pepper appetizer (fellow vegetarians, don't let the "peperoni" fool you, as this simply means pepper in Italian, NOT pepperoni meat), the truffle pasta, and the affigato. The wine by the glass is whatever they have open, but both of the wines we had were excellent. Very quaint atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating....

We first visited some 25 years ago when "character ' was the only thing that could be objectively said about it but we fell in love with it and have visited quite a few times since. The current generation of the Anselma family realise the need for good quality rooms and have reduced the number to eight which are all en suite. Our room (8) was roomy with comfortable king size double and single. Most importantly they improvements had not destroyed the wonderful character of the hotel.||There was a purpose built shower, quiet effective air con and large TV.
