Among the many Mexican-themed restaurants in Nairobi, Mercado has long set the gold standard for an authentic taste of Mexico. Every visit promises a vibrant ambiance, warm hospitality, and an exciting menu that keeps diners coming back.

When it comes to their main courses, Mercado truly shines. From sizzling steaks to flavorful fajitas, every dish is a five-star experience, perfectly cooked and packed with bold flavors. These meals are the heart of Mercado, and they rarely disappoint.

Unfortunately, while the main courses impress, the starter dish—particularly the tacos—feel a little underwhelming. They ended up being soggy and hard to eat, I expected a more exciting and flavorful experience.

Another slight letdown is the happy hour cocktail selection. Compared to their regular cocktails, which are expertly crafted, the happy hour options feel somewhat lackluster including the Margarita and Mango and dont have the regulars like Long Island—except for the Gin Basil, which remains a standout. If Mercado could maintain the same quality across all their cocktails, their happy hour would be truly unbeatable.

The waiters staff are well-trained, attentive, and always serve with a smile, enhancing the overall dining experience.

If the tacos were as exceptional as the mains and the happy hour cocktails matched the quality of the rest of the bar menu, Mercado would be an easy five-star restaurant. Until then, it remains a solid four-star spot in my books—still one of the best places in town for a great...

The food was decently good, but the prices on the menu in the restaurant are not the same as on the menu you will find on Google Maps. Also, there was a misunderstanding with the waitress regarding the drinks and the manager intended to charge us cocktail drinks instead of mocktail drinks - without informing us. For the small story: we asked for two mocktails Sangria instead of SangriTa. Misunderstandings happen when you have such a confusing menu, even though we confirmed to the waitress we want mocktails. They brought cocktails instead of mocktails - not what we ordered. After discussing for 20 minutes (knowing that we could still not order food), the manager agreed to bring us the mocktails we wanted. The final surprise was that they wanted to charge us the cocktails instead of the mocktails (which are the double of the price). We then had to defend ourselves to a manager that made us feel guilty of their mistakes. He finally agreed to make us paid what we consumed - the mocktails and not the cocktails. But we were really disappointed by the service, and we are sorry for the poor waitress that paid the consequences of some mismanagement of...

I recently visited Mercado - Mexican Kitchen and Bar, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The pristine aesthetics of the place perfectly captured the vibrant and warm essence of Mexico, making me feel like I was transported to a charming, authentic Mexican eatery.

It's up there as one of the top Mexican restaurants in Kenya without a doubt. Lots of vegetarian options that calls for many visits. A few things. The salads are options are good, everything is great about it except for the lettuce quality. A bit wilted and came straight out of the fridge. I just imagine this is because they're not ordered often. The guacamole is as authentic as you can get. You get plenty of it. I only wished they made it to order. Mine came straight from the fridge. Although it was still fresh, guacamole will always be at its best when it's just made. I had the fried avocado taco. The tortillas were great, the fried avocado was excellent, but I wished they used other ingredients instead of guacamole to go with the fried avocado. There was literally no contrast in flavour. They could be much more creative with this. Instead of guacamole to go with the fried avocado, it could have been fried pineapple or mango, crema, queso, crispy cabbage, Jalapenos, and black beans. That being said, I do enjoy this place and plan to visit multiple times.

This place is perfect for date night! The interior decor is just beautiful. You have to appreciate the way the space is set up because it absolutely compliments your dining experience. The host and waiters are kind, attentive and interactive. The one we had was extremely friendly and made us feel comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. I'd never had Mexican cuisine before but this experience made Mexican my favorite! And oh Lord the cocktails! We happened to catch happy hour and I chose the 'Suprise me' option with a tequila preference. Yes, I was surprised lol. They were so tasty but also so strong! I loved everything about this place, from the view to the food to the setup and I would 1000% recommend. The back story about the restaurant is also very inspiring. When you get a chance, read it.
