I am usually not the guy to write negative comments. If I don’t like the food, or the service, I just don’t revisit the restaurant again. If I like, I go over and over again. Akami is one such place. The food is ok, nothing too fancy, the sushi is fresh but the reason I am writing this review today is because of treatment that we got from one of the female Burmese servers named Lunpi at the restaurant over dinner. It was the sheer rudeness of her attitude that baffled me. During our dinner, we had very politely requested her to do takeaways for both the mains. The way she carried the food back to the kitchen and how she even packed it in the takeaway box was rude and atrocious. Her manner of handling our food was as though she was feeding prisoners or stray dogs. I even told her off and asked the other staff member to pack the next main dish for us, after seeing her reaction in the way she even brought food to the table. She seemed as though she was generally not happy to work there and is taking out her frustration on the customers. This is unfair for patrons. If she is not keen to work in the restaurant, she should be relieved of her job. I am not expecting a white glove service but what we expect is basic minimum service at a restaurant. we have been visiting Akami for the past few years and our children like the food there.
Most of the other staff seemed fine but of all the times we have gone there, I have dreaded her taking our orders. That is not a nice feeling. I am generally very polite when am at the restaurant but today I had to tell her to treat customers and the food she is serving with some basic respect. The cashier apologized profusely and when the same part time staff went to speak with Lunpi, she literally raised her palm clearly unbothered to hear it.
Clearly, after this kind of service, we will never go back again and tell our friends and family to stop visiting the...
Read moreDelicious Japanese restaurant in Bukit Tinggi area. There are plenty of Japanese food selections here such as Sushi which is rotating at the counter, Appetizer, Salad, Egg skin maki, Sashimi, Wanmono, Nabemono, Yakimono, Agemono, Men rui, Don rui, Bento, Desserts, etc.
Overall, the food quality is rather standard. Ingredients used were rather fresh and the food portion is quite OK. Food price is quite reasonable. They offer free ginger and wasabi which can be found at the rotating conveyor.
The environment was nice but too relaxing as quite crowded in the restaurant. Also, not too spacious inside the restaurant where each table are quite near so not very privacy. Simple Japanese interior design which fits the restaurant. Overall, the restaurant is clean and well maintained.
There are several waiting chairs available at the entrance of the restaurant for customer to wait. Quite crowded during weekend peak hours. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Quite...
Read moreWe came in a group of 4, by the time we reached, there were still a lot of seats to be chosen. At first, we sat tgt in a big table. However 2 mins ltr, we were asked to sit separately, 2 person 1 table, and proceed switch to a smaller table. Due to the SOP, we cooperated. Surprisingly within the next 20mins, I witness most of the table were seated with 4 pax. WOW.
As stated above, we were pretty early there. However it took us 30mins to get our sushi served. When most of the tables who came later than us already had theirs.
Food wise, not particularly good. There was only 3 plates of sushi on the conveyor belt, and they don’t look appetising at all.
Service wise? 2/10 As my food was served late, I asked one of the waitress to check for my order. However, after she went to the counter, she didn’t come back and give any update. Thus I wasn’t given any response till the second time I asked.
Date of visit 8 January 2022....
