Han'ei Kaya Izakaya — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

We went here for my mother's birthday, we got a room, upstairs. The problem with this restaurant is that it does not have a dumb waitress and the food is sent via the same stairs one would use to head upstairs into the private room for a meal. As a result, it was extremely slow and sparse. The food that comes out from the kitchen wasn't bad but unfortunately does not reflect the price point and worst is, there's 8 of us and everyone got their food in a very bad spaced out timing, all 8 main courses were out within the span of an hour at different times. I feel it really takes away from the dining experience and this is no fault of the staffs, this is something that needs to be addressed by management for continuity of clientele flow...

Not sure why there is good review on the food and recommendation on the premium eel rice. Truly disappointed, it’s pricey but food doesn’t compatible and not worth at all. When the unagi is served, I tried so hard to cut it hence I approach to the waiter. He then took my plate and cut it into pieces for me. When taste it, it’s so chewy, can hardly taste the meat but only the thick skin. After trying few pieces still the same, the waiter agree to change another one or I can order other food, without charging the unagi rice on my bill. Gave up on giving second chance hence just ordered another piece of salmon, taste bitter as it’s slightly burnt. Ramen set we ordered also didn’t taste good.

Service attitude is good. But food is not...

Food all tastes fresh and high quality, especially the Nigiri which is some of the best around. Flavours are great in each individual element but the rice dishes felt a little unfinished, they were both just lacking a little something to really make the dish complete.

Kushiyaki (Grilled skewers) were somewhat basic, wouldn't order again here.

Their Sake cocktails were totally pointless, the "Mojito" tasted of sake with soda water...

Unfortunately this was mostly let down by the service. Waiting half an hour to receive all our dishes but one to then only be told its unavailable... given you also order through their online QR there really wasn't much service.
