UPDATE: Further to my original review (below) - Here is the update.
I am BEYOND happy that my favourite dish of chilli avocado toast is BACK ON THE MENU 😁😁😁😁😁. It is hands-down the best you'll get in KL. I honestly thought that today would be our final visit to Kaka. We only returned to see if my husband's favourite almond crusted french toast would be as good as it was before Wizards rebranded as Kaka. He too is thrilled to find that his favourite is as good (IF NOT BETTER) than it ever was! 😁😁😁😁😁 For our favourite dishes alone, we will DEFINITELY be frequenting Kaka regularly. The staff member who greeted/seated us and took our order is AS AWESOME AS EVER.
HIGHLY recommend you try the chilli avocado toast, the almond crusted french toast, the hojicha and regular hot lattes. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
.................................................. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We visited here often when it was Wizards. It was then the classiest cafe in town. Today we were surprised to find that there is a new owner (we only visited Wizards a couple of weeks ago!) and it's now called Kaka. The staff once wore smart black attire. They now wear casual day-glow printed shirts and peaked caps. The menu list was once elegant and higher quality. It's now printed on two sides of a sheet of card. The napkins were once plain white, thick and lovely. They are now printed in day-glow on thin paper. The food was once extra-ordinary. The dishes we had today were not the usual Wizards standard. Sadly my favourite dish (chilli avocado toast) has been replaced by a less tasty alternative. My husband's favourite dish (almond french toast) is still on the menu, so he'll compare that to the original version if we visit again. He tried a similar alternative (banana french toast) today, but it just wasn't as good. The staff have always been, and still are simply AMAZING. Professional, friendly and efficient. However; I can't help but feel that morale has been noticeably affected by the clear downgrade from Wizards to Kaka. To be fair- if I had never experienced the quality and class of Wizards, I would say that Kaka is good and possibly above average. It's just difficult not to be disappointed when you've experienced Wizards as it was. It's a shame that the new owner felt it necessary to make the changes they have. If it's about profitability, it may have been wiser to leave things as they were and raise prices. I don't know the particulars, so mine is not a well informed opinion. What I do know as a loyal Wizards customer is this... what was once the classiest cafe in KL...

🥣Mushroom Soup (RM16) The soup was a bit too watery for my liking but they somehow managed to give a strong flavour to it which was good, personally prefer a thicker and chunkier soup !
⭐️🍞Almond Brioche French Toast (RM34) 2 thicc slabs of toast coated with hand diced almonds, forest berries, mascarpone and a side of gula melaka. The almonds give the toast a nice crunch, but i feel like the brioche was not that special (like normal bread) when combined with the ingredients and toppings it did make a really nice combination though - recommend to share otherwise will be jelak
🐥Crispy Korean Chicken Bao (RM18) Expected 2 bao’s for this but I because of all the good reviews I still wanted go try it, honestly its super normal - the chicken was juicy but you could totally skip it !
🍝Beef Ragout Tagliatelle (RM30) Made mushrooms and baby spinach, pasta was cooked nicely, taste was quite good but not mind-blowing !
⭐️🍫Tiramisu Bomb (RM26) Deconstructed tiramisu with espresso jelly, in a dark choc sphere with warm mascarpone cream sauce. The chocolate sphere gave off a lot of chocolate taste which made the “tiramisu” get lose in translation 🎶 But I do get the vibe from it, and I love the concept a nice dish to share and its not too sweet as some bites will be stronger with coffee taste
☕️Cappucino (RM12)
🤵🏽♀️ Service : Service was alright but its a bit hard to get their attention
💵 Cost : On the higher end I think some items are way to pricey and some make sense
🤤 Will I Return : The decor and location is really nice but there’s nothing else on the menu that interest me
🍴Overall Food Rating [6.5/10]

Love the ambience and environment here. It's a worth instagrammable restaurant with its elegant and stylish renovation. A good place to chit-chat with "Ji Muis" on a weekday afternoon.
It's recommended to make a reservation if you wish to dine in here on a weekend. We visited this place in a group of 4. We just only made reservations half and hour before our arrival (dinner time) and the staff actually told us tables are all fully book. Luckily at the end, the staff still managed to get us a table, but we have a limited time for dine-in.
We orderd few food and share among. First, Spicy Vongole spaghetti, all of us agreed that the taste is just average. As we can't really taste the Shao Xing rice wine as mentioned in the menu.
Unagi Bao was great and fillling. Love the crunchy texture of Unagi, the source in the Bao is just nice.
We also ordered a chicken pizza (which I forgot the name of the dish). The pizza taste average with just chicken sausages on top. I am actually expecting some real chicken slice or chicken meat. But it is out of my expectations. At least not that I am aware of
For dessert, we go for Golden Molten Lave. The "golden" basically referring to Salted egg yolk crunch on top of chocolate lava cake. Though it might be a creative way to blend in taste of salted egg yolk with the sweet chocolate, I personally still prefer the traditional molten lava cake. The presentation of the dessert is fascinating.
Overall, the price was medium range in such a 5 star location, service was average and the food...
