Overall: An excellent option for people who are looking for plant-based food in KL. I've been here for multiple times now, the food and vibes were good, staff was friendly. Recommended for people who are staying at Four Points or people who are exploring the area and looking for plant-based food options.
Staff: I was a little concerned about the staff service before visiting, because I didn't have pleasant experiences during my visits at The Hungry Tapir because of their rude staff. The Hungry Tapir is the other vegan restaurant that is owning and running LaGula. Surprisingly, the staff at LaGula during the time of my visits were extremely friendly and helpful. They were recommending the event happening that evening, there's also one time the staff handled a drink that we accidentally spilled with grace. Which was very different from the treatment I've gotten at LaGula.
Ambiance: The huge floor-to-ceiling windows, and the beautifully designed space is perfect for different numbers of people for different occasions. There's outdoor seating area, indoor area with tables and also the big staircase that's good to chill at. The music being played wasn't too loud, which was perfect to me.
Food & Drinks: I've tried quite a number of food and beverages there, and so far I don't remember anything that I didn't enjoy. The pizza was great, the beverages tasted good too.
Getting Here: Train: It's very easy to get here from the Pasar Seni MRT/LRT station. Grab: Getting here through ride hailing services is also straight forward. Parking: Though I've never drove here before, the nearest parking is at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, which is where the restaurant situated.
Restroom: If there's one thing I didn't like, it is the experience of going to the restroom. Due to the restaurant is situated within the Four Points Hotel, guests will have to use the restroom at the hotel lobby, which during the time of my visit there, the restroom was dirty and had a strong stench from poor maintenance. I wouldn't recommend to use the restroom there, especially if restroom cleanliness matter to you. It stinks so bad and I felt like I was going to throw up even though I've already put on my mask because of how bad it smelled from...
Read moreI had an amazing experience at LaGula By The Hungry Tapir when I visited for Friday night cocktails with some friends. This place exceeded all my expectations, and I'm delighted to share my positive review!
Firstly, the "buy one get one free" promotion on cocktails was an absolute steal! Not only were the drinks delicious, but this offer made our night out even more enjoyable and budget-friendly. Who doesn't love a great deal on fantastic cocktails?
The ambiance and decor at LaGula were top-notch. The place had a trendy and chic vibe, creating a perfect setting for a fun night out with friends. There was even a DJ playing tune after tune. The attention to detail in the decor really added to the overall experience and made us feel welcomed and relaxed.
Now, let's talk about the customer service - it was beyond outstanding! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and promptly seated. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made excellent recommendations based on our preferences, which further enhanced our evening. We felt well taken care of throughout our time at LaGula.
The cocktails were crafted with skill and precision, and the flavors were delightful. Each sip was a new experience, and we couldn't resist trying a variety of their unique concoctions. The bartenders clearly take pride in their craft, and it showed in every drink they served.
LaGula By The Hungry Tapir is now my go-to place for gatherings with friends. Whether it's a casual night out or a special celebration, this gem of a restaurant and bar ticks all the boxes. The combination of great drinks, a lively atmosphere, and impeccable customer service creates a memorable experience that's hard to beat.

Read moreMy last visit to LaGula was a bittersweet experience. While the main course and side dishes we ordered hit the mark, the cakes were a complete letdown. And no, I’m not one of those who try a cake once and declare it a disaster. I’ve been a loyal supporter of Lagula’s cakes—I even chose them for my own birthday and have lost count of how many times I’ve recommended them to my vegan friends.
Unfortunately, the cakes during my last visit were shockingly disappointing. They were so dry they tasted like sandpaper. Even with the kind server’s help in heating them up, the damage from the dryness was beyond repair. When we informed the server, we were told that the cakes were made entirely from vegan ingredients and that dryness is sometimes unavoidable. While I understand the server was just doing their job—and we don’t blame them—the explanation didn’t sit well with me, especially as someone who has long enjoyed and promoted their cakes. My confidence in them was immediately shaken. I could be wrong, but my guess is the cakes had been refrigerated for too long, stripping away all the moisture.I'm not a Karen by any means. I’m sharing this feedback because I want to continue supporting LaGula. I want to keep recommending their cakes to my vegan friends—but if what we were served that day is what they’re offering now, I would humbly suggest they consider removing the cakes from their menu altogether.P.S. My friend had originally wanted to celebrate his birthday at Towzen, a place he loves for its vegan ramen and desserts. But I confidently persuaded him to go to LaGula instead, raving about their heavenly cakes. So you can imagine my disappointment when we were served cakes that genuinely had the texture of sandpaper—and I’m not exaggerating.
That said, I still think La Gula is a great spot for dining. The service, ambiance, and main dishes were all satisfying. But based on my last visit, the cakes are in urgent need...
