2018.02.18 First and Last Visit
Chill Sunday dinner with the family, we chose a franchise that the kids like and are familiar with, to keep the day simple: it was hence a rather contrasting experience that, at least, we will carry with us as a memory of substandard culinary experiences.
It began with a line to be seated when the restaurant was at half capacity, which resulted from having one single person trying to seat patrons, while other staff idly stood around. Ok, not a big deal, we all have small things that we can improve on.
We then were sent to the back of the restaurant, where the lack of functioning/adequate air conditioning was most notorious: at that point, I would have walked, but the kids were still up for it, so let's push through.
We sat and tried ordering from the touch screen that apparently wasn't responding, and so we asked for assistance from the staff: their solution (2 different staff followed the exact same procedure) was to tap the screen with increasingly aggressive force, while sighing at their inability to solve the problem with the aforementioned 'technique'.
They eventually decided to take our order manually.
They must be out of practice because some of the items never reached us, while others that we didn't order kept coming our way (one particular incorrect dish came to us twice... brought by the same waiter).
But the worst was yet to come: turns out one of their staff was under the weather and kept coughing quite loudly (not a very discrete cough, with the added bonus that he made no effort to cover his mouth, or face away from customers while he coughed) in this space that, as mentioned earlier, had inadequate airflow. After five minutes of hearing that persistent cough, I spoke to the manager and asked for that staff to work away from customers and food until he recovered, for it wasn't a very appetizing situation. She obliged in a very friendly manner.
And that is the reason why this experience receives 2 stars instead of 1: the friendly manager's willingness to improve a very unappetizing situation.
With the Staff and Infrastructure issues, the next time we feel like eating in Sushi King we'll have to look for another branch.
Oh, and for some inexplicable reason, a very loud and disruptive bell sound is the method they decided to use whenever a customer requests for the...
Read moreWe came here on Sunday night, around 8pm. There are not many people coming here, there are still empty tables. We are seated in front of the open kitchen, so I can literally see the staffs preparing the food. It has been a long time since I came to eat at Sushi King due to low level of service and food.
When I first arrived, I am surprised that they dont have any food on the conveyor belt, they have replaced it with the machine that served to our table, like the one in other restaurant. Maybe it is a good thing, cause it means that we will get fresh food prepared by the staffs when we ordered. In terms of the staffs, they dont look that friendly, perhaps because it is already night, everyone is tired after working all day plus it is the weekend so there were many customers.
We ordered iced green tea, they served in jug as usual. Since we are not hungry, we just ordered the sushi. It takes a long time for our food to arrive, perhaps around 20-25mins? We ordered ebi tempura, karaage cheese, unagi, some beef I cant remember. Their ebi tempura is the most delicious one, perhaps because they just cooked it. Others are just okay.
Overall I might come here again to eat their ebi tempura and to try...
Read moreHad a very unpleasant experience here in Sushi King Mid Valley outlet. To be honest in a span of a year I've visited sushi king, most of them gave a bad experience. However, today 10/06/2023 was the worse. Had to wait more than 30mins for food to serve. Saw a few other tables that arrived even earlier from us also haven't get their food yet. Some even came with family, poor them. For the self order function, please improve immediately. Its been years that we can't cancel on our order and had to call for the waiter and guess what we weren't being attended even after we had to call them ourself(mind you we have press the button to call the waiter for sooo many times). We call them just simply to cancel our order as we had time restraint, we had a train to catch, so its been really inconvenient for us. We came in because there was many empty seat so we assume that it is manageable for them to entertain. Little that we know that its just a scam. Sushi King, could you kindly advertise your waiting policy for us the customers to understand further. If this is how your service will continue to be than it will be wastes with the branding you have as its getting more more worse in providing good food...
