Mr Lim KJ House Plus (Korean BBQ) — Restaurant in Shah Alam

Second time dining here, I come back because the food were great but sadly I’m disappointed by the owner’s attitude that made us feel uncomfortable.

I first dine in back in May 2022, brought by my two relatives who’s regular here. At that time I fell in love the ginseng chicken soup, and bbq.

I came here again on Saturday night 8pm with other relatives, there’s 10 of us but the restaurant isn’t packed, there’s only 3 -4 tables. I was trying to clarify if the minimum 2 portion of bbq and dakgalbi can meant 1 bbq and 1 dakgalbi, but the first response I got was “2 portion for 10pax?!!”, in a unfriendly manner. I decide to proceed with the rest of my orders to clear the misunderstanding, (about 8 dishes for 10pax), but because of the previous questions, my relative felt the courtesy to order 10 dishes so we end up over ordered :)

Also I am not sure if the soup should’ve came with rice, as the owner asked how many rice do we want, so I ordered two rice (we ordered 3 soups). The ended up serving 3 rice but charge me price of 2 rice, I didn’t bother to clarify further. My aunt who dine in at Mr Lim Hartamas said the soup should’ve come with rice.

Anyway, though the ordering part kinda ruin our mood, thankfully the food were served quick, and delicious. Not to forget the waiters are very attentive, refilling the bottle of water without us asking.

I’d consider dining here again if I’m around the neighborhood, but definitely not in a large group.

Food recommendation: Ginseng chicken soup, pork bone soup, soft tofu soup, kimchi pancake, bibimbap are delicious. Would give a pass to the dumpling soup and dakgalbi.

Price is reasonable consider the taste and...

All in all, verdicts: Horrible service and food are mediocre at best. We walked in with 3 adults and 2 toddlers, and here is what we had experienced:

It took us 4 attempts to flag down the floor staff to take orders from us (2 times out of it, we are spotted and looked at us for seconds before they turned their face away, ignoring us. 1 of it being the boss himself)

The owner took order from us extremely half-heartedly and doesn't even care to confirm our order with us on the spot.

We sat for nearly 15 minutes before finally managed to flag down a staff to give us cups for water (even though they sat down the water jug for us without cups before ignoring us).

Banchan took over 30 minutes to reach our table, and we ordered a BBQ set that is meant for 3-4pax and half fried chicken for everyone. We requested for banchan to be refilled once and out of 5 items, only 3 given with an excuse of the rest are finished (it was not even 9pm yet with 80% capacity filled at highest period).

The food came slow and staggered, small portions and given dolsot bibimbap without gochujang seasoning. AGAIN with multiple attempts of flagging them down for sauce.

The damage is RM153 ish which exactly makes me think that the shop is still surviving due to a lack of more quality Korean eateries around Kota Kemuning area.

*To the shop mgmt, do not bother even telling me pretty words here. If you guys have intentions to be better, you would have already done so from multiple reviews...

Insist to give a thumb 👍 👍 👍 to this Korean restaurant though there’re unpleasant / negative reviews from the public. Slightly unfair treats to the operator & staff. Indeed It’s very subjective.

We shall put ourselves into their shoes. I’m not paying from the owner to give this review. It’s my thoughts to bring fairness.

For instance, I’ve observed a group of 5-7 paxes who just ordered small portion of food to share & keep requesting to add on side dishes (banchan). It doesn’t make good sense ☺️. Yet it sounded so embarrassing.

With honesty I’ve been a regular customer merely 19 months. Till this moment my family & I enjoy the food. I’ve recommended it to my friends & relatives too. No issues. We also foresee there’s improvement (interior) such as air conditioning ventilation.

Keep trying authentic cuisines at this restaurant 🥘 Pork Bone soup , seafood Korean pancake , Dakgalbi , Garlic Fried Chicken, BBQ marinated pork , bibimbap, cold buckwheat noodles & few more (scrumptious)

Ample car parking..
