Grew up with Pizza Uno and when it was no longer where it was, my partner and I could only romanticise how "homey" and delicious it was. But then, we found a stairs with Pizza Uno signage at the top. We both were surprised! So, we had been looking forward to come back and try this chic, new looking Pizza Uno.
Pizza - Beefy Garlic with addon cheese. The dough, the star.. Please correct me, It looks like sourdough but with the texture of focaccia - thinly cripsy skin but tender, soft inside dough, tinier bubbles (the crust is now my standard favorite, ever). The pie is thin so folding may not work all the time. The taste, it brought back memories but with fresh, treated ingredients. The only thing we both wished was still the same is the option to make your own pizza topping. Honestly, please bring it back 😁🎉🙏🏽
Pasta - Beef bacon carbonara. Wow, we always love this pasta before but this time, there is smokiness into the flavor and we have no idea where it is coming from. The after taste lingers long. Nicely and tastefully rendered and honestly, a plate is not enough but 2 plates would be to many. So order 1 each and don't share! 😁 do the italian by wiping the plate clean with that delicious pizza crust, you will thank me later (please, do so in here😅). I will not come to Pizza Uno and not order this carbonara, for sure. Again, we wished there's option of pasta since we are a big fan of fettuccine for carbonara. The spaghetti was awesome and just after al dente, which we prefer. But, a fettuccine carbonara would crown this as 1 of the best in town. This is just a personal preference.
Drinks - pizza is best with Soda, they know this and I'm glad they kept it simple.
Service - we were greeted by a young man, good looking and friendly, ushered us in like we were a regular. But, this man is always watching and alert. Superbly attentive. I set down but got up immediately and started walking towards him. He started walking away too but when I took the corner, he was already at the washroom door directing me! I did not have to ask, this is a strong show of alertness and behaviour reading. This is top for me, kudos 👏🏽 team Pizza Uno.
The chef - man is in the zone and every pie/plate will go through him, while he manned the oven. I came to the counter after food to look at the menu again and he immediately asked "addon?" Hahaha, nice try! Of course on another day, I would have say yes, no doubt. We had a short chat and i immediately understood why Pizza Uno is back. Few factors I'm sure but the definitive answer if you ask me, Pizza Uno is that neighbourhood place you loved to frequent.
The food and the service says the love for the craft, without even saying much. And, this speaks for itself.
Price - $.5/$$ (yea, really....
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. I came here once before intending to order a pizza but realized they only accepted cash, that was on me. So this time, I made a point to come back, even waiting two hours while they were closed in the afternoon, just to finally try their pizza.
Before ordering, I showed multiple staff members to include the front desk lady, my waiter, and even someone from the kitchen a photo of exactly what I wanted. I confirmed the name and toppings clearly, but they still brought out the wrong pizza. When I politely explained that it wasn’t what I ordered, the MANAGER himself started huffing, puffing, and acting irritated, as if I’d done something wrong for wanting the food I actually asked for.
He apologized, saying his staff wasn’t properly trained but how is that even possible? These are the same people I saw working here back in April when I first visited. It’s been six months and you still haven’t trained your staff properly? That’s on management, not the customer.
When I told them I didn’t want the pizza I didn’t order, they literally just left the wrong pizza sitting on my table and didn’t even attempt to make the right one. When i asked for the RIGHT pizza, the whole vibe and atmosphere instantly turned weird and sour, like everyone was quietly annoyed that I spoke up about the mistake. I genuinely felt like a bother all because I wanted what I waited two hours for and actually ordered.
On top of that, the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, the grape soda was flat and tasted more like juice, and honestly, good luck if you only speak English, the staff act like they don’t understand even the simplest requests.
And all that for mediocre pizza with bland, overly tangy sauce and cheese that doesn’t even melt well. I hadn’t eaten all day, so I ate it out of hunger, not taste. When I was checking out, the same manager was snapping at the cashier, telling her to hurry up and take my money; completely unprofessional. If he’s not the owner, he needs to be fired OR a STRONG training and personality overhaul but good luck. If he is the owner, what a sad excuse for a business owner.
I usually let things slide because I understand mistakes happen, but this was just rude, lazy, and flat-out disrespectful. Gross pizza, bad service, weird energy — what a waste of...

Came here on a Wednesday night with my wife. We are regulars and big fans of the previous Pizza Uno, so expecting great things from our visit.
The restaurant itself has minimal decorations with comfortable chairs and mostly 2-seater tables, but it is very cool and quiet as well as nicely spaced with all the tables and chairs arranged in the right distance from one another. Our waiter was very attentive and understood what we wanted as well, therefore no complaints there.
We ordered the Hawaiian Pizza, Pesto Chicken Pizza, and the carbonara as an extra dish just to try it out to see if it has the same flavour profile as the previous carbonara in the previous Pizza Uno. I have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed both Neapolitan-style pizzas immensely, with my wife preferring the Hawaiian Pizza over the Pesto Chicken Pizza and vice versa for myself. As for portion size, the pizzas will feed 3 people well although I’ll definitely recommend ordering 2 or more pizzas if you are a party of 3 or more. Trust me, you’ll want more as one is not enough at all. During our visit that day, there was another table with 3 pax, and they ordered an additional pizza because one wasn’t enough at all for them. To conclude on my opinion of the pizzas, both of them are well worth the price we paid for it, and we are definitely looking forward to try other pizzas on future visits.
As for the carbonara, my wife and I agreed that it is not similar to the carbonara at the old Pizza Uno but it is delicious nonetheless and we will still order it if we have cravings for a well-cooked carbonara.
