Original restaurant no longer around hence I reckon this is the next best. Was made to understand that this is an outfit owned and managed by one of the original founder's daughter - not sure if that is true.
Anyway, food is good. An order of the signature paper wrapped chicken will give a drumstick that is very well cooked with lots of sauce. The chicken was succulent and the sauce is absolutely delicious. Goes with rice very well. Need to develop some cutlery skills to ensure one is able to peel the chicken out from the very oily parchment paper.
The fried yee mee is very good with loads of lean meat, prawns, white cabbage, fish cake slices and pork lard. Our order of fried rice however was not up to mark but had a good share of prawns and char siew in it.
Pricing is not cheap - RM5.30 per piece of paper wrapped chicken. But not complaining given the delicious taste. Another gripe is the chilli sambal. It was very watery and had no belacan taste at all - a pet peeve of any restaurants stingy on belacan. Tasted just fried chilli boh + water....😑
Service is good and accomodating. E wallet payments...

Ordered paper wrapped chicken (纸包鸡), vinegar pork (猪脚醋), deep fried bean curd (炸腐竹), famous noodles (招牌炒面)& meat stuffed tofu. ➡For the chicken, gravy taste nice but the chicken is not marinated too much. Skin taste great but inner part taste plain. ➡Vinegar pork taste more towards sweet than sour. Up to your personal preference. ➡ Deep fried bean curd taste ok, crunchy ➡ Fried noodles. Fry using wantan noodles and mixed with lots of ingredients. Taste good. A great alternate if you don't want to eat rice. ➡ Meat stuffed tofu. Pan fried a little on the meat side and boiled in clear soup. Taste great if you don't like...
Read moreIt has been a long time since i last came to this restaurant. The menu is very different now, like a proper restaurant dishes. Unlike those days, most of the dishes are precooked and served in small portions. Like it that way, as we can order more dishes then. The paper wrapped chicken and the yong tau foo is still good but the sweet and sour garoupa fish is a disappointment. The fish was burnt and it was cooked differently from those days. Even the hakka braised pork belly was cooked and served differently. Not so tasty as...
