Long past its glory days, Sushi King is no longer the first pick for Sushi and the newest buffet offer has digged its own grave deeper.
Do not be fooled by the newest buffet offer, it was the worst sushi buffet experience I ever had. Other than that, I don't know for other outlet, but this outlet is just terrible mismanaged. Should have just went out when I saw no one is eating there.
In fact, they have a namelist for people who ordered their buffet set, and I saw no names on it. We might be the first table that day trying on it.
Pricing: Extremely overpriced, advertised RM49.80 but is actually RM57.7 after tax, put the price after tax very small under it and barely visible. (On their Facebook page, the price after the tax is so small that it's blurred out)
Food: will the food make up for the high price tag? Short answer no. Very very limited food selection, not even tamago, chawanmushi, and other usual stuff. food and drinks other than the selected items like bento sets and coke will be charged extras. The iced honey green tea that is part of the buffet is not even refillable. Will give u a plate of fried sotong and takoyaki (full of breadcrumbs and flour) to fill your stomach up faster.
Food quality is beyond speechless, Saba fish is fried with cheap quality breadcrumbs, full of bones. Other fried stuff also have little to no meat means you will only be eating breadcrumbs most of the time. Miso soup is sour when tasted to the bottom , probably due to bad quality tofu inside the soup.
For salmon, No sashimi set, only sushi pieces that have lots of rice to fill your stomach faster. The same goes for unagi and the taste of it is comparable to overnight leftover fish. soggy, bland, thinly sliced, no texture and taste, only saved by their teriyaki sauce that is bought from supermarket.
Mostly the food available is fried (full of breadcrumbs) or sushis that are full of rice. Basically to summarise is to make you full as fast as possible while saving costs. The only saving grace that is worth our money are their imported cheesecakes which is somewhat an amusing feat for a sushi restaurant.
Ambient: Could you imagine a sushi restaurant inside a mall does not even have proper air conditioning? The aircond is so weak that I'm almost sweating, no proper ventilation and when we told the issue to their staff, he said that the aircond is managed by the mall and not them, they could do nothing about it. So, maybe we should give them a pass? But still points deducted. The restaurant had very few people that day, and you could literally hear staffs coughing loudly inside the kitchen.
Service: Their staffs are actually decently polite, which is a good thing. But our food still came slow even though we are the only customers during the time we ordered. The staff that served us did not tell us the price after tax, and all those limited selection food. Probably knowing that this would lead us to leaving.
I could say that we were still somewhat lucky, because the other table who came later than us needed to yell before finally getting someone to serve them, and eventually left probably due to their slow service.
To conclude, extremely overpriced, terrible beyond speechless food, limited selection, somewhat slow service while the restaurant had little to no people.
To Sushi King, whoever thought of this buffet marketing idea, good job on your advertisment. You might earn some quick cash in the short run by offering low quality food, cost cutting measurement, and still being pricey. But in return you are damaging the company's reputation and name, while further ruining the Sushi King's legacy that we had known. Simply because, no one is going back for these terrible experiences. Visit this outlet and you may see almost no people all day there. Still, we decided to give it a chance while didn't expect it to be so disappointing.
Anyways, all could go for Sushi Mentai or any other sushi outlet for a cheaper and tastier experience.
1/5, no...
Read moreThe worst Sushi King I ever been. Going to make a long complain here. The waiters will only bring you to the table and leave everything to you, not serving us at all. (At least ask and serve what to drink first when we looking at menu.) After bring us to the table, they not checking if the table having menu and expect us to browse the food menu through the super slow responsive tablet beside????? (It's like we have 5 person, you want us to click look at that super small and slow screen, with delayed about 4 sec every click. Seriously???) Aircon might be centralised one, maybe can't blame them on this, But don't even felt a single blow of cold breeze inside the restaurant. Been walking in MIECC and Mines the whole day, expect to find some places to rest and have our dinner, would say the atmosphere here is not recommended.
We are too thirsty so we ordered for drinks to let them be served first and only start to browse through the foods menu. When the staff serving the drinks, he mentioned we can call him to make the food order. When we are all frustrated using the tablet to make order(too slow responsive) and decides to call waiter to assist us on our order. They all rejected to help us to take the order and insist want us to use their tablet to make order. It's not like what the staff mentioned to us earlier. It's felt like they trolling us and want us to waste 20min to use the tablet to make order when they can done it within 5 mins. What even worst is most of the foods find in physical menu are not available in tablet, we only knew the missing foods are not available at the moment after asking the waiters. (Lacks of food choices, most of the food we wanted are unavailable, for example, all Udon dishes)
Add some incidents happened when we are at restaurant. The waiter served us something not we ordered and just put the food at the table and left, we have to stop her from leaving and let tell her took back the food. (Unprofessional staff and working procedures) At least give us the list of order for confirmation and let them get track on the dishes served.
When we try to pay the bill, few tables of customer queue at the cashier, waited for some times then the cashier only came to us, but something wrong with the system, they spent another few minutes to solve it to continue to bill the customer.
What made me insist on writing a complain here are the waiters aren't really serving us well but still taxing for the service charges. This is just ridiculous to me.
In the end, the things can highlight is at least their food quality still edible, nothing goes wrong but nothing can be complimented.
As a well known franchise restaurant more than 20 years, didn't expect everything will be so bad, hopes to have some better improvement...

Longer waiting time, worse service.
the male waitres (with specs), i have requested to help take the wasabi, he had listened but chose to ignored until i finished my meal he also act nothing.
I have asked the female worker (i believe is cashier), i saw multiple glasses of wasabi are available on the table (customer have alrdy left), but she told me that another customer is using it.
No one is responding on the call of waitress on the tablet.
The waiting time still acceptable for me because i didnt rush in time. (although it takes around 30min+ to prepare the fried chicken donburi) (can refer the picture attached)
The sushi rail also very less in term of type and quantity (very empty sushi rail). Didnt order on the tablet because fed up of the service, and didnt have many time to wait more longer for the sushi preparation.
During this time, only 3-4 table of customer dine in plus me myself (not busy at all).
Feel sad for the service, never been so speechless. The worker chose to stand at the corner instead of helping to solve the problem.
I'm not sure is this outlet has it own culture, but i didnt encountered this problem before at others outlets.
Didnt know the manager would care for this matter or not. However, I've wrote the problems for your further action or reference.
Thankyou for your time...
