Tacun is a great little joint on blvd kukulcan right across from Flamingo mall. We were staying at the nearby flamingo resort and this was the first spot we tried out in Cancun since it was right next to our hotel. I loved the setting, basically a shack on a side lane right off the main Boulevard. Its open air and they have fans in case it gets to hot. The place is cash only so that is something to keep in mind.
We started off with the delicious freshly made guacamole and the a couple of mango margaritas. The margaritas were so unbelievably yummy and had been made with actual mango and not just a pre made mix. At around 120 pesos a pop they were an absolute steal. The guacamole came with fresh chips and an assortment of salsas which ranged from mild to supremely spicy! The entrées were excellent as well but the guac and drinks were really the show stealers. Staff are bilingual as with most places in cancun. Very friendly and service is great. Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner if you are staying around the flamingo mall. Not very expensive either as our meal came out to around 700 pesos for 2 people including 2 drinks each, entrées...
Read moreThis was my favorite breakfast while we were in Cancún. The place is pretty touristy, to the point where the menu was entirely in English, but the food was good and the prices were reasonable for the area (cheaper than eating at our restaurant). For around $400 pesos, we got chips and salsa (free), a fruit platter, a cheese and pepper omelet, and chilaquiles.
The chips came with limes, a green salsa which was very spicy, and a red salsa which my girlfriend said was her favorite in this trip.
The fruit platter had perfectly ripe pineapple, papaya, and banana, and decent cantelope. It also came with granola.
The omelet was bigger than expected and was basically a thin wrapping of egg around a bunch of cheese and peppers (very good). The sides were pretty good refried beans and some underseasoned potatoes. I had so much other food that I mostly ignored the sides.
I liked my bite of the chilaquilas but wasn't paying enough attention to really give a review of them.
We have to take the bus from our hotel to get here but we liked it enough that we're planning to come back tomorrow, although we might order less...
Read moreI don't recommend this place and this is why. My friend and I were trying to find real Mexican restaurants in hotel zone. We were very excited to visit Tacun because it is highly rated on google map.
We got here with very little amount of cash (USD$30) because we didn't know they do not accept cards.
We ordered 3 dishes in the beginning and canceled one from our order list because we realized that wouldn't enough cash for us to pay. We all agreed with that. Everything was clear.
BUT why we finished our food and about to leave. They brought the dish which we have canceled to the table. And pretended not be able to talk in English. He asked how much we have and give him all. That was like robbery!!!
People! Don't you care your reputation!?
Terrible experience!
The food was ok, it little too salty. Other than that this taste was fine. Not much difference from the Mexican restaurant...
