First of all, I go (used to now) fairly often to this restaurant with friends and family because they usually have a decent "molcajete" and food. However, today I had the most awful experience at lunch time.
My mom and I went there around 2:30 pm and there were barely any customers, which usually means good food and service but not here and not today. She ordered the "salmón al carbón" (a salmon steak basically) medium well and I ordered my usual "molcajete vegetariano" (vegetarian molcajete). Everything was well, they brought our drinks, bread and salsa, all until she took a bite of her salmon. She chewed once and had to take it out of her mouth because the bottom was completely burnt. So they had "hidden" the burnt part and served it anyway, expecting her to just be okay with that burnt salmon. My mom lost all appetite and so did I so she asked them not to bring any more food out and I got my molcajete to go. Management was professional about the situation but the kitchen (the chef) did an awful job not only with the salmon but also with my molcajete. I came home and the spot in my Mercedes where I had placed my to-go bag was completely wet because they didn't have enough sense to wrap the box with plastic wrap or put the broth in a separate container. This is not the kind of treatment or experience that anybody should receive at a restaurant where you're using your hard earned money to try and enjoy a meal.
If you're the kind of person that likes good quality and good flavors when it comes to your food, I would not recommend this restaurant. Go elsewhere...
Read moreThis restaurant in León is located at a busy mall, Plaza Mayor. I have visited this place several times and never been disappointed with the food or the mixed drinks. The servers and hosts are very friendly and many of them speak English well. My favorite appetizer is the plate of six chalupas - half with green salsa and half with red. I highly recommend it! I have tried the escamoles (ant larvae) appetizer and, while it was not my favorite, it was good, especially for adventurous eaters. My favorite entree is the chicken with three cheeses. Other people I have eaten with rave about the molcajeta, but I love the chicken dish. As for dessert, my favorite is the Ferrero Roche ice cream. Wow! It's an amazing ending to an excellent meal. The margaritas at this restaurant are also top notch. They have a children's menu with a variety of items and my children enjoyed every bite of their meal. De la comida ni que decir, todo excelente, todo delicioso y la barra de salsas al momento 10/10 al igual que los cocktails, pedimos 2 con carbón activado (sinceramente olvide el nombre) pero muy bueno.
La cosa estuvo en el ambiente y el servicio, vivo en Alemania, soy Chef para equipos de la Bundesliga, siempre acostumbro vestir de sudadera y pantalón de mezclilla y gorra por costumbre y comodidad, pero al parecer para los meseros era un corriente sin poder adquisitivo.
Cada que quería pedir una cerveza tenía que pararme a buscar al mesero y pedírsela, pues el nos evitaba y lo que nos daba ni siquiera nos volteaba a ver, incluso mejor tuve que ir con el capitán de meseros a comentarle la situación el cual, muy a fuerza también nos atendió, era personal? CLARO pues a la gente de las meses de al rededor que "se veían mejor" las atendían de todo a todo"
A nosotros a penas nos hablaban, se acercaban u ofrecían algo, yo quería probar el tequila del lugar, pero la tipa que promociona las botellas, estúpida y juiciosamente no se acercó nunca, ni siquiera a ofrecer la prueba, pero a todas las mesas de alrededor sí.
Como comenté, soy Chef tengo 20 años en el negocio, he trabajado al rededor del mundo y se cómo funciona la gastronomía y su personal y ambiente es un vil asco.
Los gracioso fue el final, cuando pague la cuenta ($1200 no fue mucho) pero deje 250$ de propina (25% y solo gracias a la cocina que estaba excelente y la disfrute) en cuanto se la di al capitán de meseros, el inútil que me "atendió" corrió a abrir el libro y vio el dinero... Los 2 se me quedaron viendo. Más gracioso aún, la pareja de a un lado, muy elegante, pidiendo bebidas muy caras, etc... No les dejo ni un peso 🫵🏼😂 ojalá aprendan a no creerse tanto, recuerden algo...
