il Diavolo is the restaurant that everyone wants to have on their block. Pizzas, paninis and salads with a wealth of ingredients that you don't often see in Mexico. I love the Pizza San Danielle with jamon serrano, arugula and REAL Parmesan cheese. They have a great Caprese salad with some of the best tomatoes you will find in Mexico (which says a lot because there is great produce in this country), and fresh mozzarella. The paninis are great, but the best part is that the menu is priced so reasonably that you can eat out several times a week. The wine selection is somewhat limited, but they have made some good choices: I like the Chilean carmenere for $240 pesos (US$20).
If you visit il Diavolo more than once, you notice that the clientèle is mostly local, and regular. You see a lot of the same faces week in, and week out. Repeat customers are a good thing, and I always try to find a place to eat that is full of locals. il Diavolo is one of my favorites, and I highly recommend that you...
Read moreI went here with my family for dinner. It was a large group. The waitstaff was pretty slow. Had multiple servers and couldn't keep the orders straight. We asked about corkage for a bottle of champagne we wanted to use to celebrate, told them we would end up buying off their list and the manager came out and gave the most ridiculous answer for why they couldn't serve our one bottle. He said that it was because of the restaurant politics, whatever that lame answer means. He should have been honest and said he wanted to only sell us the bottles we would drink. Such ridiculous greed. He probably worked at McDonald's before working here. The food was really poor quality and probably did rival McDonalds,so I guess his attitude probably makes sense. Overall I cant think of a reason to visit there again and I certainly can't think of a reason to tell anyone else it would be a good idea to eat there. If thats the kind of food you want, Dominoes or Little Ceasars is a...
Read moreWhen a native Mexican says they don’t like foreign food — it’s because of places like these. The whole place is a facade.. from the food to the waiters and people like myself who have traveled can tell.
I ordered a pastrami sandwich since I had a big appetite and ended up with a miniature ham look a like with cheddar cheese… what a joke. The service is very mediocre too, you can sense and notice that the waiters are uncomfortable acting fancy.. 😂 I just wanted to make it known since I left very disappointed. MIND YOU, this was also a $12 sandwich… looks like I will go back to Funicula next door. I’ll share a pic for all...
