The best food in Merida!!! My husband and I were out walking last night, when we rounded a corner and found this gem! We were welcomed inside Viento Sur by the polite staff who promptly showed us to our table in a bright, clean dining area. When they brought our drinks, we were also served the most tasty bread piled high on a plate that included 3 different types of dipping sauces. It was hard to decide what to order as there are so many great food choices! We ultimately chose the ravioli with alfredo and mushroom sauce, the mushroom lasgna, and the beef empandas. The food did not disappoint! The sauces, the seasonings, the flavor of it all was such a treat and the portions were so large that we had to take some home with us! We have visited many restaurants in Merida but this restaurant is one we will return to again and again! We also tried one of the many meats available that are cooked on a woodfire grill. We loved the tenderness and the taste of the meat, full of smoky flavor. The owner is a kind and friendly man, who clearly shows the customer the best possible service, as does the attentive staff. We are very happy to have found the Viento Sur restaurant, and would highly recommend it to anyone searching for the best dinner...

First time in Merida, and we have eaten in a half dozen top notch places, this place is the best by far. My husband and I each had an empanada and salad for starters. It was served with fresh baked bread out of a stone oven, along with 3 different dipping sauces. Each better than the next! Our rib eye steaks were perfectly bar b qued, and the meat was of the highest quality. Service was warm, professional and attentive . I had a fresh lime juice and my husband had a local craft beer. The decor,, architecture and vibe was SO inviting. We didn't have room for desserts, but the table next to us all ordered the crepes with dulca de leche and helado, and they were raving about them. Superb quality and a great value. Not...

My family is Argentine so we went to this restaurant. Food was tasty and aesthetic, but my gosh… they messed up multiple parts of our orders. They brought the entrees before the appetizers, they gave us food we didn’t officially ask for, they would either ignore or forget that we had asked for a salt shaker. I had to walk up to the counter and ask for it since the food was getting cold at that point. My dad also got food poisoning after eating some meat from there. Service was ultra slow as well. I think they need more staff because they have good food, but they mess up a lot of things.

We were craving for real meat and we found this place while getting lost in the city, we got in for directions from the nice chef. The smell inside the restaurant was so good that we decided to go back sometime during our stay for a dinner - I'm glad we did so. The staff were very nice and served us with delicious perfectly made steaks. They even agreed to put on the grill small portion of each cut we were interested in so we could try from both. I highly recommend stepping into this place, it was a great meal and experience! BTW, the prices are fare too, 320mx pesos for ~300gr of meat.
